The former chief rabbi of Vienna has pledged to reunite Manchester-born Beth Alexander with the twins from whom she has been alienated for five years.
In a dramatic intervention, Rabbi Moshe Friedman, who claims to have won many cases by representing victimised plaintiffs in the Austrian courts, travelled to Vienna this week after hearing of her plight.
And, in a further development yesterday, the communityโs lay and religious leaders contacted British chief rabbi Ephraim Mirvis after becoming aware of Rabbi Friedmanโs involvement and the international outrage following the official launch on Sunday of a Facebook support group.
Alleging cover-ups, corruption, coercion and interference in Ms Alexanderโs case, Rabbi Friedman says that his involvement will send shockwaves through the legal establishment, the social services, the education department and the Vienna Jewish community.
Let us hope Rabbi Friedman can help reunite the twins with their loving mummy. He says it as it is. It would appear that not too many people in Vienna have done so in spite of the outright dishonesty and corruption in this horrible case of domestic violence and abuse. Even as Michael admitted in court that his family friend a high court judge was advising him. The Jews of Vienna have done themselves no favours through the last ten years. Especially the lay leaders and rabbis who could and should have been able to hold Michael to account.
