In a closed-door caucus meeting Wednesday morning, Pelosi received a
standing ovation, according to a Democratic aide in the room.
"I
tried to find one page I could spare that didn't have a lie on it," she
said, according to the aide. "About a quarter through it, I thought,
'You know, he's selling a bill of goods like a snake oil salesman. We
cannot let this stand.' So, somewhere along the way, realizing what was
coming, I started to stack my papers in a way that were tear-able."
Yeah, but that's not acceptable behavior politically. It was suicidal for her to tear it up. In the Fall, independent voters are not going to want to associate with the Dems because of that ripping. Donald Trump crosses a lot of red lines. But he makes sure that he ALWAYS gives the visual appearance of being Presidential.

He learned it from his years on TV. He can say anything he wants, as long as he plays the part otherwise.
Speaker Pelosi failed to play her part -- physically -- as Speaker. She is going down and she pulls her Party with her. She did it to herself. We just have to be spectators and nothing else.
Once again, each side playing to its base without any thought of the other side.

Those who like Trump will call it a temper tantrum.
But for those in the middle we saw a President give a presidential speech using a presidential style and we saw a Speaker who knew that the next day her grand impeachment strategy would fail acting like a spoiled child. And where do you think their votes will go?

ReplyDeleteThat's a good way of putting it. The House had to host the President while he promotes himself to the world, and then the next day all the House's impeachment work swirled down the drain.
ReplyDeleteIt was a one-two punch. Mix in that the Iowans couldn't even get timely vote counts, and it was a bad week for Dems overall.
