Einstein grew up frum?

Recently in Binah magazine there was a claim that Einstein grew up in a frum family but went astray because of foreign influences. The  purported source was Understanding Einstein by Dr. Gary Moring

Below is the page 133 where Moring discussses Einstein's relationship to Judaism but doesn't say he was ever an observant Jew and the full title of the book is The Idiot''s guide to understanding Einstein and it says author has M.A. not PhD

  1. He was raised completely secular. At some point he became fascinated by the Torah, but was unable to reconcile miracles with his understanding of nature

  2. "Frum family"? Is this a Purim joke?
Einstein's family was secular, and he attended a Catholic elementary school in Munich, from the age of five, for three years.
Which "frum family" would send their son to a Catholic school?

  3. From Einstein's "Autobiographical Notes:
"... I came—though the child of entirely irreligious (Jewish) parents—to a deep religiousness, which, however, reached an abrupt end at the age of twelve. Through the reading of popular scientific books, I soon reached the conviction that much in the stories of the Bible could not be true."
