The GOP has become an insurgent outlier in American politics. It is ideologically extreme; scornful of compromise; unmoved by conventional understanding of facts, evidence and science; and dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition.
Ideologically extreme - Democrats can't define "women", insist there's no such thing as gender, openly root for Iran and Hamas, deny federal money to non-unionized projects, increase energy insecurity in the name of ecofascism Scornful of compromise - if they don't win an election, democracy is gone! Unless you accept that there's 86 genders and that Islamophobia is the worst threat to modern society, you're a hater! Unmoved by conventional understanding of facts - like gender, the complexity of climate change, and US enemies slowly encircling the country while Iran races to build nukes Dismissive of the legitimacy of its political opposition - if we don't win, it'll be a Nazi dictatorship! Yup, they're describing the Dem's perfectly.
For Democrats, right and wrong is absolute. Did 77 million people vote for Trump in 2020? Who knew the US has 77 million neo-Nazis living in it? Do the Republicans and their supports have 40% of the current popular vote? Oh no, 40% of Americans are evil, blood-sucking homotransphobe knuckledraggers. Delegitimizing your opponents is easier than legitimizing your own positions.
