Argentina just did it and they're doing quite well.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom line is that government doesn't care about costs. It's not their money and they can't go bankrupt.
A private consultant whose job is to walk around and ask every employee "What do you do here and what happens if you are let go" would likely find that 1/3 or more of the civil service is redundant and just a waste of taxpayer money.
The only thing governments are efficient and creative about is generating more taxes for themselves.
DeleteChronic Issue with government workers is that they have zero motivation to do any more than their job requires, as opposed to private companies who will invariably (due to competition and self interest) be more efficient. This is another common sense and common experience issue that pro-government ppl scream "Data Data about"
typical conservative assertion
Deleteimaginary data!
DeleteDT is correct. I was a federal government employee and I now represent then as an attorney. By an large they do care, go the extra Mile and work hard - even uncompensated
DeleteSo because it's a typical conservative assertion it is wrong?
ReplyDeleteArgentina's economy recovery is not imaginary data.
DeleteIt's well proven that lower tax rates with a focus on consumption taxes over income taxes leads to increased tax revenues.
Liberals hate this because it means less government control over people's lives.
