Community in Conflict: Hasidic Jews & Education

Part 1: Some Americans may not realize that Hasidic Jews shun many common secular practices widely accepted across cultural and national borders, including the basics of education. For example, there are several yeshivas, or Hasidic Jewish schools, in the New York area that only teach subjects in Yiddish. Previous yeshiva students share the impact of these practices in their lives. Watch Part 2 Here: https://youtu.be/AlmVCPK_E7M

  1. As an experiment try replacing every instance of the words "Ultra Orthodox" and "Hasidic" in that article with "blacks" or "Hispanics" and you end up with an article everyone would agree is racist.

But since it involves Jews, especially the Jews' Jews (i.e. Ultra Orthodox/Hasidim), it is okay to publish even though it is Anti-Semitic.

  2. Naftuli Monster is a member of the eruv rav and a Jewish Benedict Arnold. He does and says, only, whatever he thinks will hurt frum Jews the most.

Isaac Abraham is well meaning and a good person but he's a poor spokesman. And an unappointed one at that, unlike what the article claims.

  3. Parents have, and should have, the right to educate their children as they see fit.

43 States do not have any law similar to New York''s public school equivalency requirement. (NY's law was thankfully watered down by the state legislature a few months ago and made more legally impotent.) NY's law was never enforced over the 100 years it was on the books because it is unrealistic to give children two full curriculum's of education. If parochial school children were forced to submit to a full public school equivalency education, there would certainly not be sufficient time to give them a full religious education every day in addition to a full public school equivalent education every day.
