Igor Girkin, a former commander of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine, said on Saturday that Ukrainian troops have "already won" the war against Russia.

On Saturday, Ukrainian troops made significant gains near Kharkiv, the second-largest city in Ukraine—forcing Russia to retreat from key cities including Izium and Kupyansk, according to Radio Free Europe

  1. Don't people realize how dangerous this is? Putin cares about one thing - no, not Trump! He cares about his survival. If Russia withdraws from Ukraine or is forced out of everywhere except part of Donbas, this will be a major humiliation for him and he simply won't survive it. So what desperate move will he consider to avert this?
And the bigger picture - Russia invading Ukraine and "reuniting it with the motherland" was a dry run for China invading Taiwan. What lessons will Xi learn from this? Not to invade because it might end badly or lead with a couple of nukes to avoid a morrass?

  2. I think the West wants to goad President Putin into dipping into his nukes.

The West might have an ace-in-the-hole, some top Russian commander who can block the nuke order and who is secretly working with some Western spy agency.

Or, maybe they figure, best to absorb a few nuclear bombs from Russia which will then lead to Russia's complete and total transition into a state which no one deals with leading to Russia eventually being carved up.

  3. Don't forget: China's watching and trying to figure out how to learn from the debacle when they decide to invade Taiwan.
In the meantime they, Iran and Pakistan will never treat Russia like it's a pariah.

  4. China has the most to gain from a weakened Russia. Russia will be a vassal state to China.
