Trump Won Less Than 50 Percent. Why Is Everyone Calling It a Landslide

 https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/11/22/trump-win-popular-vote-below-50-percent-00190793

Trump’s 49.9 percent (for now) is still more than Kamala Harris’ 48.3 percent. When the counting is done, the margin will probably have shrunk even further. No matter: It still earns him 312 electoral votes from a population that also gave his Republican Party control of the House and Senate. He won.

All the same, the numbers might seem a wee bit jarring to anyone who has been listening to Washington’s triumphal Republicans and self-flagellating Democrats — all of whom seem to have internalized a version of the story that involves a romping, stomping Trump triumph.

  1. How long is this temper tantrum of yours going to go on?
    Trump won. Live with it.

    1. The issue is not whether he won
Why is Trump claiming a mandate for all his nonsense?
He claims a landslide victory which is not true!

    2. He won a majority of mandates which is how the system works in America, just like the parliamentary system in UK.
Why are you engaging in casuistry?

    3. Remember that the American system is different. All that matters in the final count is the Electoral College vote and he did win that by a landslide.
He won the presidency and his party won Congress. A majority of states have Republican governors.
That is a landslide in the American system.

    4. Yes, thank you. The problem is that DT is trying to deny that Trump won, or that by an electoral system in another country, he may not have won the same powers as he as in America. Which is problematic, since a) this is about America not Netherlands or Italy, and b) when the Dems win, they win and they have a President, only if the GOP wins (assuming it is still the GOP), then it is questionable

    5. He didn't win electoral college by landslide
The problem both of you are making is ignoring Trump's reasoning and yet accepting his conclusion

He definitely won the election as did Obama Clinton FDR and Nixon. The vote however was split between him and Harris. Thus claiming that the nation wants his program and his control over all the departments as he sees fit is false.
