Tarifs Raise prices

  1. Yes, tarrifs are a blunt, destructive economic weapon. They cause more damage than benefit. However, consider the alternative.
Right now illegal immigrants and drugs flow freely over the US' two borders because both the Canadian and Mexican governments just don't care. Canada is a freeloader in NATO, relying on the US to protect us while spitting on them in cintempt as a show of gratitude. Mexico is a country that has more territory controlled by ganglords than Lebanon wiht terrorists.
America has tried negotiating, has tried accommodating and Canada and Mexico have ignored the efforts and continues to abuse the friendship with America. Trump is calling them on it.
Then there's China which dumps its cheap goods on the American market while closing its market to the Americans and flooding America with toxic goods and fentanyl.
Bottom line: America will suffer economically from tarrifs but the targets of the tarrifs will suffer more. When the tarrifs end, America will easily recover. Canada, Mexico and China will not.

  2. Mexico does not dispute that it's exporting fentanyl (and other drugs) to US
But much of its economy is based on the drug lords
And local governments also based on drug lords.
