All of a sudden, the liberal movements became a minority for the first time, while Haredi Jews, who make up only about 5% of American Jewry, have more than 16% of the vote.”
Rav Kanievsky ztl was in favour of voting in the wzo. I remember Rav Feldman was opposed but then accepted his Daas.

Both Rav Kanievsky, (the steipler Gaon's son), and Rav shach's son Reb Ephraim served in Tzahal in 1948 war.
The majority of non-religious American Jews don't care and don't participate but if you tell Chareidim to vote for something, they move like a herd.
