Fox News host Chris Wallace suggested Thursday that Attorney General William Barr was “acting as counselor for the defense” of President Donald Trump during Barr's press conference in advance of his release of special counsel Robert Mueller's full report on Russian meddling in U.S. elections.
“Obviously, the president was very frustrated with the actions of his first attorney general, because of the fact that he felt that Jeff Sessions was not protecting him was not functioning in that role,” Wallace said, appearing as an analyst on Fox News' America’s Newsroom following the press conference. He suggested that Trump specifically chose Barr to then–former Attorney General Sessions with the expectation that he would be more loyal.
Did it ever occur to some of these people that the reason the Attorney General's press conference made the President seem honest and upright is because in regard to the investigation into the President's campaign, the President acted honestly and sprightly!
ReplyDeleteThe President was in an impossible position. He was unable to persuade his underlings to end the investigation, yet he couldn't let the investigation undermine his Presidency.
It turns out the President threaded the needle perfectly. He stood up against an investigation that was started at the behest and for the political gain of his opponents, and at the same time he did nothing that impeded that investigation.
All of that is in the report.
THIS LOGIC WOULD JUSTIFY ANY AND ALL ILLEGAL ACTIONS - IS IT SO CRITICAL THAT TRUMP REMAIN PRESIDENT HE COULD BECOME A DICTATOR AND THROW OUT THE CONSTITUTION - AND YOU WOULD CHEER HIM ON?!
ReplyDeleteYes. We may be at a point in history where there is a need for a dictator who suspends the Constitution.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I hope we can avert that happening. It would be most regrettable if for the good of the country that step had to be taken. But I would nevertheless support the President through such an episode as the land was cleansed of sin.
and only trump has the wisdom and right to decide!
