New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority is investigating a complaint by a haredi man, who alleges that a bus driver refused to stop for him at a Brooklyn bus stop over the current measles outbreak.
The man said that the bus driver drove past the stop in the largely Orthodox-populated neighborhood of Williamsburg last week but that he caught up with it after it got stuck in traffic. The bus driver eventually let him on, covered her face with her sweater, and refused to accept the man’s transfer, while shouting “Measles! Go in!” the Brooklyn Paper reported.
The incident was reported to the MTA on Thursday by the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg, which is working with the city to curb the measles outbreak by educating the community and encouraging vaccination, according to The Forward.
“The measles outbreak should not be used as an excuse for antisemitism,” the group said in a tweet.
A second tweet from the group added that: “Facts are, about 95% of the community is vaccinating. We, the Rabbis and community leaders, are working hard to increase it. Not justification to attack the entire community for the shortcomings of a few.”
The incident reportedly occurred several days before New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared a public health emergency over the measles outbreak in Brooklyn’s haredi Orthodox community.
There have been 285 reported cases of measles in Brooklyn’s Orthodox Jewish community since October, including 246 children. The Brooklyn outbreak has been tied to an unvaccinated child who contracted the disease during a trip to Israel, The Washington Post reported.
Rabbi David Niederman, president of United Jewish Organization, told the Brooklyn Paperthat haredi Jews in Williamsburg are being harassed on the streets with people shouting “Jews, measles” at them.
Didn't I predict it would lead to antisemitism, only a few days ago? Now it's happening. This is rodef by actions, and unintended consequences. They used to accuse us of poisoning the Wells, now hareidi nuts are giving reason for hatred. Follow, Joe, Gerald, berel?

ReplyDeleteOne alleged incident by a bus driver doesn't make a pogrom.
ReplyDeleteyes, but you have to ask yourself why Chareidim are hated? Don't tell me it's because they guard the TORAH.
ReplyDeleteI don't have to ask myself anything I don't feel like asking myself. I only have to ask myself if my speech, actions, and thoughts align with G-d's Will.
ReplyDeleteHillul Hashem is also a factor.
ReplyDeleteThere can be legit reasons for not vaccinating. And even if there aren't any, it is not against the Torah for a Jew not to act in lockstep conformity with other Jews who do act in lockstep conformity.
ReplyDeleteAt a minimum, it seems to me that a Chillul Hashem must involve a sin, the appearance of a sin, a lack of Derech Eretz, and/or not promoting Ways of Peace, etc.
Simply not vaccinating, on its face, is not a Chilul Hashem.
I agree with KA here. See https://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/23740
ReplyDelete“Yet when Farrakhan openly admits that he’s “not an anti-Semite, yet an anti-termite”, one knows his basic intention as people wish to get rid of termites. Farrakhan isn’t sugar-coating these terms. He’s outright serious. This type of rhetoric leads to only one thing, and it’s to bring his hatred to the next level. The problem is, people still turn a blind eye and try to rationalize and belittle their actions. When people compare what is happening today with threats of boycotts against Israel as well as verbal harassment and even assaults on University campuses and in public throughout the world to pre-Nazi and Nazi Germany, we get labeled as either paranoid, over-dramatic and exaggerating.”
Update on me: SCOTUS denied my rehearing 18-7160. My theory. Why? Because I have undecided motion 266 March 25, 2019 at NYS Court of Appeals. If, Heaven forbid, NYS Court of Appeals denies my 266 March 25, 2019 I could go back to SCOTUS. I like that SCOTUS puts my petitions on their website for all to see. My focus is can a judge block me from seeing a critical document---the fake/phony 1995 Rigler Order of Separation?

Thank God my monthly income is 10,000 from US and Israel social security and 45% of my TIAA pension. I love my dear wife, Yemima and life in Israel/Bnei Brak... I like writing court documents and on this blog... I’m very much against not vaccinating.
When the first gentile child dies ,God forbid, of measles, they will blame it on the Jews.
ReplyDeleteSo what was the reason behind the divorce? Can you fill us in? You moved to Israel, and she was supposed to follow, but didn't? What happened and why?
ReplyDeleteThanks KA for the uptick. This is my letter today to: NYS Ct of Appeals and other parties:
ReplyDelete1.I request permission to submit these papers concerning my motion 266 3/25/2019. I'm attaching an affidavit of service proving I mailed by UPS a true copy to Susan.
2.My argument is that Judge Prus has no prerogative/privilege to block me from seeing a critical document, namely the fake/phony 1995 Judge Rigler Order of Separation. TIAA partially agreed that I had a kangaroo problem with the Kings County Supreme Court.
6.I asked Vonzell Simmons if TIAA could suspend paying out my pension, meaning temporarily not paying out my pension. Vonzell Simmons told me “I don't think so,” but he wants to look into the matter. TIAA did suspensions August 2007 through November 2007. I told Vonzell Simmons that TIAA did suspensions early 1994 until late 1997. TIAA's pension payment suspensions may be in violation of ERISA.
7.I told Vonzell Simmons that the sample QDRO he sent me states: “1. The parties hereto were husband and wife, seek this Order...” This is substantially different from Judge Rigler Signed QDRO October 15, 1997: “The parties seek this Order in conjunction with this Court's child support orders of July 22, 1994 and January 6, 1997 in that action pending in this Court at the above number.” QDROs as any proper court documents must be clear on who the parties are.
8.In truth Judge Rigler never should've signed the October 1997 QDRO. There were so many flaws. The child support orders of July 22, 1994 were made retroactive to when I was still America etc. August 1992 in court I personally showed Judge Rigler and Larry Rothbart copies of 22 letters I sent Susan trying to make peace in the home. This stopped Susan's false charge that I abandoned her, when in truth Susan abandoned me.
9.Thank God my monthly income is 10,000 NIS from US and Israel social security and from 45% of my TIAA pension. I love my dear wife, Yemima, and our life in Israel/Bnei Brak. I like writing court documents. SCOTUS denied my rehearing petition 18-7160. Why? My theory. Because I have undecided motion 266 March 25, 2019 here. If, Heaven forbid, you dismiss my 266 March 25, 2019 I could go back to SCOTUS. I like that SCOTUS puts my petitions on their website for all to see.
10.My focus is can a judge block me from seeing a critical document---the fake/phony 1995 Rigler Order of Separation.
Are you still working at the university?
ReplyDeleteIn the United States, 1.2 million people live with an HIV infection, of whom 15% are unaware of their infection. Gay and bisexual men, African Americans, and Latinos remain disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteRight , but it's "assur" to hate those groups because of equal rights.
ReplyDeleteThe anti vacxers movement is not a Jewish one but they latch on to the hareidi communities, because they are easy targets.
Interesting but irrelevant unless you get a blood transfusion from one of these carriers while riding on a bus.
