President Trump told The Post on Monday that he has “a plan” to tackle surging oil prices caused by the war with Iran and that people would be “very happy” — sending oil prices tumbling nearly 30% from the day’s highs.

“I have a plan for everything, okay?” Trump said in a brief phone interview Monday on the 10th day of the joint US-Israeli war with Iran. “I have a plan for everything. You’ll be very happy.”

Trump did not provide details, but he has a variety of options, including releasing oil from strategic reserves.

  1. It is very rare for a war to not take a toll on the winning side. A war concludes either when one side is defeated or simply can't afford to keep fighting. America has, despite what liberals think, a strong and growing economy and enough domestic energy supplies to weather this. Will there be some economic damage? Sure, but Iran's will be far worse when it's over and that's the point.

    2. In war, there is deception, deterrence, and various other strategies. Trump has been very good in being unpredictable. That's why everyone was still guessing till the end whether there would be a war.
He's now trying to tame the global markets.
In 1973, after the yom Kippur war, petrol prices went up by 4x. It's not the same level of pandemonium now.
The objective is to weaken or collapse the mullah regime
And put a friendly one in its place

    3. In a large part, yes. For Iran it's about hanging on until the US exhausts its firepower and rising oil prices cause Asian countries to scream at them to end the attacks. For the US, it's about leaving Iran with minimal military capability and taking control of oil shipments through the area. Which economy is better positioned to handle damage? The US. Which government couldn't care less if there's total economic collapse? Iran. That's what makes this so unpredictable.
