What Is the Jewish Belief About Moshiach (Messiah)?

 https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/108400/jewish/The-End-of-Days.htm

The Scriptures are replete with messianic quotes. In Deuteronomy 30:1 Moses prophesies that, after the Jews have been scattered to the four corners of the earth, there will come a time when they will repent and return to Israel, where they will fulfill all the commandments of the Torah. The gentile prophet Balaam prophesies that this return will be led by Moshiach (see Numbers 24:17–20). Jacob refers to Moshiach by the name Shiloh (Genesis 49:10).

The prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, Joel and Hosea all refer to the messianic era. (For full references, the reader is referred to the book Moshiach by Rabbi Dr. J.I. Schochet.) It is interesting to note that the wall outside the United Nations Building in New York is inscribed with the quote from Isaiah (2:4), “They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more.” Furthermore, it is clear from the prophets, when studied in their original Hebrew, that Moshiach is a Jewish concept, and his coming will entail a return to Torah law, firmly ruling out any “other” messianic belief.

  1. I find it interesting that learning Rambam is so important for Lubavitchers but they ignore his warning not to obsess over Moshiach or the End Times because we have no clue what it will really be like and it'll happen when it happens.

    1. Because where the Rambam says that moshiach will compel all Israel to walk in the way of Torah, they had to twist it. So on one hand the Rebbe had the biggest scorecard in making people frum , but not enough. So they twisted the meaning to claim that moshiach will only start the process. ..
Did he start the process? Maybe it was Theodore Herzl who started the introspection. Or Rav Kook?
In any case, they say anything they want.

    2. The Rambam says Moshiach has to do 3 things
      1) Gather in the exiles
      2) Fight the wars of the Jews
      3) Build the Temple
      Lubavitchers twist these 3 things
      1) The Rebbe's prayers caused the USSR to let the Jews out
      2) The wars of the Jews is the battle against assimilation so that's the tefillin tables and Chabad House Shabbos meals
      3) 770 is the Beis HaMikdash and when the Rebbe reveals himself, it will be transported magically to the Har Habayis and transform into the final structure.
Lubavitchers get made when you point out that in actual reality, Ben Gurion and Reagan accomplished (1) and Israel accomplished (2)

    3. And both the Rebbe and Rav shach were humiliated that Rav Goren accomplished 2.5, ie fought a war for Israel and liberated har habayit. It took them 5 years to concoct a story that he acted against halacha in freeing a couple of mamzerim.

    4. I actually heard about joke about this.
So Rav Schach is walking down the street and runs into the Rebbe.
"Did you here?" asked the Rebbe.
      "Hear what?" responds Rav Schach.
"I'm the moshiach!" announces the Rebbe.
"And who told you?" asks Rav Schach.
      "Eliyahu haHavi!"
      "No I didn't!"
