When I saved the JPEG image of the document embedded within the post as a separate file and zoomed in on it, I found that the text was illegible due to pixelation. Am I doing this right?
I am having the same problem. The original file is 165 kb while the save image is only 25.The fact though is that the image is available in a number of places on the internet with google image search.I was just sent this image and don't know how is was reproduced.
You can read the letter herehttp://www.jewishtimes.com/index.php/jewishtimes/news/jt/sexual_molestation/abuse_in_our_community/1472It should be noted that the letter was sent after the Baltimore Jewish Times, UOJ and others exposed serial molestation cases in that community.
Alternately,Click on the image so that it opens in a separate window. This press and hold the "Ctrl" key will pressing the "+" key several times. This will zoom in on the image, and bring to a size that is readable without undue pixelation.
Also, some of the rabbis on the letter did not like the fact that the Baltimore Jewish Times exposed the molesation cases
It would be more appropriate to say that one Rabbi did not like the fact that the Jewish Times exposed the molestation cases, as their is only one Rabbi who signed that letter. It is also important to note that he switched hats when he did. There is his part of the B"D of Agudat Yisrael, as opposed to claiming the authority of the Baltimore Va'ad. The official Aguda position has been very hard to pin down. At times they seem to be all for measures to protect the community, and at others they seem to be staunchly opposed to anything that might mean mosering another jew to any sort of secular authority.Hopefully the Aguda will soon develop a clear platform. However, we cannot say that Rabbis, or the Va'ad or anyone other than the one Rabbi who signed on that note, is against anything.
One thing is clear about the letter....suspected child molestation must be reported.I assume that To'eles also applies and that parents need to be notified when a suspected molester is going to be in contact with their children.
