A Tennessee congressman who reps the district where six people were killed in a school shooting Monday is under fire over a family Christmas photo showing him and kin proudly holding assault rifles.

Republican Rep. Andy Ogles, his wife and two of their three kids posed with the weapons as they stood in front of a decorated Christmas tree and smiled for the camera in 2021.

The wife and daughter held assault rifles, a particularly deadly weapon that Monday’s killer, Audrey Hale, toted during her Nashville rampage.

A 2019 report analyzing targeted school violence by the Secret Service found that many of the schools that "experienced these tragedies had implemented physical security measures (e.g., cameras, school resource officers, lockdown procedures)." It added: "Prevention is key."

An investigation conducted by Walla! shows that the tour operated by Jordan is not coordinated or approved by the Prime Minister's Office, the National Security Council or the Foreign Ministry, who were all surprised by the contents of the tour.

Trump just shared a bombshell letter from Stormy Daniels debunking DA Bragg's case.

The letter is not new information.

Daniels released the letter in 2018 and, shortly after, recanted what she said in it.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been building a case involving Trump with full public knowledge of the 5-year-old letter.

A Constitution Would Solve Israel's Government Crisis

 https://www.newsweek.com/constitution-would-solve-israels-government-crisis-opinion-1787758

In effect, this is a power struggle between the Knesset—the Israeli parliament—and the Israeli judiciary, which over many years has assumed substantial authority to overturn laws and other acts of the Israeli government. Israel does not have a written constitution that outlines the authority of the Knesset and the Israeli Supreme Court, but since the inception of the country's political system it has been understood that the Knesset—a European-style parliamentary system—is elected by the Israeli people and thus authorized to make laws.

A threat to democracy or much-needed reform? Israel’s judicial overhaul explained

Complicating matters further, should the bills pass parliament the Supreme Court must then potentially decide on laws curbing its own power. This raises the possibility of a constitutional standoff. Would the Supreme Court strike down the laws, and if so, how would the government respond?

Joe McCarthy was never defeated — and Donald Trump now leads the movement he created

 https://www.salon.com/2021/08/29/joe-mccarthy-was-never-defeated--and-donald-trump-now-leads-the-movement-he-created/

McCarthy was rewarded with a powerful chairmanship, at the Senate Committee on Government Operations, where Cohn and the young Robert F. Kennedy serving as assistant counsels. There he targeted the Voice of America, the overseas library program of the International Information Agency (this led to book burnings), several prominent Protestant clergymen and finally the U.S. Army. That last crusade proved to be a bridge too far: Joseph Welch, chief counsel for the Army, called out McCarthy on national television for his cruelty and recklessness, famously demanding, "At long last, sir, have you no decency?"

For author Sam Roberts, the essence of Cohn's influence on Trump was the triad: "Roy was a master of situational immorality . ... He worked with a three-dimensional strategy, which was: 1. Never settle, never surrender. 2. Counter-attack, counter-sue immediately. 3. No matter what happens, no matter how deeply into the muck you get, claim victory and never admit defeat." As columnist Liz Smith once observed, "Donald lost his moral compass when he made an alliance with Roy Cohn."

And instead of offering a solution for that fear, he offered an easy scapegoat, which was the communists that he said were behind every pillar in the State Department, in the White House, and everywhere we looked in our own government

Trump’s bizarre behavior a gift to the left just as public opinion was turning on Bragg

Trump’s bizarre behavior a gift to the left just as public opinion was turning on Bragg

It’s not news that Donald Trump is the worst of his own enemies, but he outdid himself with his latest bizarre behavior.

It’s not easy to make Sharpton look good, but Trump did it. Heckuva job, Mr. President!

The battle for Israel’s soul: If either side wins, everyone loses

 https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-735232

I suspect that I speak for the vast majority of Jews in the Diaspora and probably an equal amount in Israel when I say, please work harder to find a consensual resolution. End the vile rhetoric on both sides.

There are no dictators and there are no anarchists, there are only Jews trying in good faith to address a highly complex situation as best they can. Please lower the volume and give the process time to succeed. May God bless you all.

Trump won’t change, and that shows he can’t win

 https://nypost.com/2023/03/24/trump-wont-change-and-that-shows-he-cant-win/

Trump has every right to be upset.

We don’t disagree.

This is not a felony case, and Bragg trying to turn it into one is pure politics.

But rather than seek his vindication in the courtroom, or even just make an impassioned speech, Trump wants to inspire a mob.

Time and time again, Trump’s responses have been unhinged, indicative, and self-defeating.

And don’t buy for a second when he says he’s “fighting for you.”

Donald Trump Blasted by His Old Favorite Newspaper After 'Unhinged' Threats

 https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-blasted-his-old-favorite-newspaper-after-unhinged-threats-1790304

"He hasn't changed in the slightest. There is no shame," the newspaper's editorial team wrote in an op-ed article that was published Friday.

"After riling up rioters, cheering for a coup, and agreeing that his vice president needed to be hanged, he's back to making violent threats against fellow Americans," the editorial read in reference to the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, when Trump's supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building in an attempt to stop the certification of Joe Biden's 2020 election victory.
