Israel placed its sovereignty in US hands, and Trump’s Lebanon ceasefire proved it

 https://www.ynetnews.com/article/sybsnh3xge

After Trump announced a Lebanon ceasefire and called his Netanyahu talk 'productive,' the PM again threatened Dahieh strikes, drawing a furious second call as Iran talks loomed; an Israeli official says Jerusalem is 'boxed in' by a recurring US pattern in Lebanon, Gaza and Iran

Even those close to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledge that his late-night call with U.S. President Donald Trump was highly tense. The clash came not during the first conversation between the two leaders, but in a second call after Trump had already announced a ceasefire in Lebanon.

Trump’s post triggered a political storm in Israel. Opposition leader Yair Lapid described Israel as a protectorate, while former prime minister Naftali Bennett wrote: “Jerusalem. Beit Shemesh. Lebanon. Gaza. The location is different, the story is the same. A government that has lost control of Israeli sovereignty. Chaos everywhere. We will restore security to Israel’s citizens.”

  1. I'll be straight. I didn't go through this exerpt and I didn't go through the article itself.

I would like to ask some questions, though, that apply to the attitude displayed in the headline. Specifically, I would direct my questions to those who think the creation of the State of Israel was a good idea.

Now, imagine going back close to eighty years, before the war that led to the establishment of the state. Go ahead and criticize the leaders whose decisions led to that war. Use the same criteria you are using to criticize President Trump.

Ask yourself: Did the Jews win the war? Because the answer is they did not. The war has not ended yet. Would you then say they were in the wrong? Would you say the Jews should have instead agreed to live as second-class citizens in an Arab state in Palestine?

So President Trump did not achieve his whole agenda. Should he have allowed Iran to make nuclear weapons?

    1. My point is: the world, including the State of Israel, is better off now than when this war in Iran and Lebanon started. Is the outcome perfect? It's not. People were injured. People died. Property was destroyed. But the enemy was somewhat defeated. Take what you can get. Move on. But don't just go on bashing Donald Trump jo matter what he does. Give. Him. Some. Credit.

    2. Fair point.
In fact, the title of the jpost article is not saying anything new.
Israel relies heavily on America for support - military, diplomatic and economic.
It's a sort of demi colony. B'H they are generally friendly.

    3. first and foremost, Israel was created because God wanted it. If He hadn't, no efforts by the Zionists would've succeeded. He wanted it and so we got it. To say "Would it have been better if Israel hasn't been created" is to tell Him "Yeah, we don't want to do what you have planned for us." Heresy.
The Jews did win that war. The Jewish goal was to establish an independent state. The Arab goal was to prevent that and wipe the Jews out. It ended with an independent state that has only grown and prospered (okay, it took a couple of decades) since then.
The alternative for millions of Jews wasn't second class status in "Palestine". There would've been no Palestine. The invading Arabs would've massacred the Jews and divided the land up for themselves. The alternative would've been Jewish living stateless in DP camps throughout Europe probably until today. Those who say Israel should've not been created would've condemned millions of Jews to such a life and none of those Gedolim were living in the camps.
