Somewhere between the White House and the Pentagon, the nation’s leaders need to start giving the public a regular, clear, concrete sense of how Operation Epic Fury is proceeding.
Right now, regular Americans and experts “closely monitoring the situation” have good reason to feel confused.
That includes the hundreds of thousands of people with friends and loved ones doing the fighting.
Team Trump provided solid briefings in the first weekend of the war, but then dropped the ball.
Beyond the occasional in-depth presentation by Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, it’s as if the administration expects the public to think the occasional high gloss social-media video is enough.
I think either someone gets it or they don't.
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. put economic sanctions on Iran because it was trying to build a nuclear weapon.
Then the U.S. dropped large heavy bunker busting bombs to demolish uranium enrichment facilities in Iran.
Then the U.S. threatened to bomb Iran into oblvion if it doesn't come to the table to discuss allowing the U.S. to monitor Iranian activity st their potential nuclear bomb-making facilities that the Iranians claim are really for energy generating research.
Why risk losing your navy, air force, air defenses, ballistic missiles and launchers, dones, dronemaking and ballistic missile making facilities, communication facilities, your economy including your abiity to export oil and your very lives IF ALL YOU ARE DOING IS PURELY PEACFUL!!!
It is so obvious why we are there, it requires no explanation.
If someone asks you to have proof there is a hole in their donut, what are you supposed to do?
A donut has a hole.
Stick a finger through the hole?
Hold up a finger on one side of the donut and take a picture of the finger through the hole?
Measure the hole with a ruler?
Interview the staff at the bakery where the donut was made and have them elucidate how donuts are made there with holes?
The donut has a hole!
The New York Post article says, "For example, one of the chief nuclear-program bunkers is deeper underground than even the hardened facilities US megabombs destroyed last year."
DeleteSo it's obvious then that there are basically two options.
(1) Iran caves in and allows inspections.
(2) The U.S. mounts a ground invasion.
There is no point in having a press conference to discuss this. The reporters are going to ask how and when the regime will change or how and when U.S. troops will invade.
But there are no definitive answers to those questions. So better to do as the Administration is doing and being mostly silent and just keep softening up Iran to prepare for that likely moment that U.S. soldiers will either parachute in or fly in or roll in to secure, inspect and secure all possible sites where nuclear bomb materials are being manufactured.
[Edit: should read "...secure, inspect and destroy...."
DeleteFirst time I remember seeing something like this is during press conferences with General Schwarzenkopf during the first Gulf War. The press asked such ridiculous questions that Saturday Night Light did a spoof of it. "General, can you tell us where the troops are, how many there are, what their arms are and what they plan to do and when?"
DeleteLike Name says, if trhe US is planning boots on the ground, they're not going to announce it until after its happened and the press whinging "You didn't tell us first!" is pathetic.
So you both are saying the answers are so obvious there is no need to articulate them meaning the majority of US citizens (including supporters of the president) are not as smart as you and Trump!
DeleteHere's the stupidest speech never given:
Delete"Tomorrow on June 6, 1944, it is our intention to launch a massive attack on the French coast, specifically at Normandy. I will shortly detail the time of the invasion, the forces involved and the other efforts made including by secret forces to help this invasion succeed. Do you in the press have any questions?"
This attack on Iran is getting complex. To complete it, it sounds like the US will have to put soldiers on the ground to directly destroy the uranium supplies. Why on Earth would Trump and his team announce that beforehand?
I can't believe you are so dense. IT IS NOT ABOUT REVEALLING BATTLE PLANS IT IS SImPLY CLEARLY PRESENTING GOALS AND REASONS. Trump seems to think everyone will automatically agree with whatever he says
DeleteIran and the US have different definitions of victory. For Iran it's just about surviving to the end of the assault so why would the US tell them when that is?
DeleteOn another note, the Torah says that if two men are struggling in a fight and the wife of one of them grabs the other man by the privates -
ReplyDeletethat and shall be cut off.
, my question is if a man attacks a woman and she does the same to him by grabbing him there is that permitted?
According to Rashi, the reason is because she jumped into another pair's conflict. One would assume that if she is being directly attacked she can use whatever means she has to rescue herself.
DeleteI see - and if she punches him elsewhere (in the 2 man fight)?
DeleteI actually thought it was because it's unfair fighting, grabbing a man in such a way.
If I remember correctly it's because if she's that capable, she could've kicked him in the knee or back of the head but by grabbing him there she's not just helping her husband but humiliating the attacker.
