The spiritual leader of the ultra-Orthodox Degel HaTorah party on Wednesday accused the government of waging war on the Haredi community, following the arrest of two Haredi draft evaders.
“The State of Israel has declared war on yeshiva students. Haredi Judaism will embark on a global struggle like never before,” a spokesman for Rabbi Dov Lando, one of the most prominent rabbinic leaders of the so-called “Lithuanian” stream of ultra-Orthodoxy, declared in a statement.
Alongside the Hasidic Agudat Yisrael, Degel HaTorah is one of the two factions in the United Torah Judaism party.
They and their cronies can go to hell.
ReplyDeleteShowing your true colors of the hatred of the Am Ha'eretz to Talmidei Chachamim, as delineated in Pesachim 49b.
DeleteMy money is on you going to that hot place you wish the Gedolim to go to.
Repent while you still can, you sorry Am Ha'aretz.
Zealot? I remember you! You're the guy who burned the food supplies in Yerushalayim and threatened to kill Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai if he negotiated with the Romans, right? Yeah, that was you.
DeleteI have tremendous respect for true Talmidei Chachamim. It's the rabbis who have spent their lives learning Torah and now use their authority to sow dissension in Israel while disrespecting and insulting the vast majority of Jews that I don't want any part of.
No true Scotsman or appeal to purity is an informal fallacy in which one modifies a prior claim in response to a counterexample by asserting the counterexample is excluded by definition.
DeleteWho is alive today, that qualifies in your book as a "true Talmid Chacham"?
A true Talmid Chacham is a bayshan - he's afraid to walk around acting like God spoke to him personally and that his interpretation of the Torah is the only legitimate one, a rachman - he visits injured soldiers, he prays for them and he demands his students do to, and a gomel chesed - he encourages his boys to sign up for army duty so the burnt out soldiers who have sacrified their education, businesses and families for nearly 2 years can finally get a break and recover.
DeleteRight now, The Gedolim(tm) exhibit none of those things.
That's not an example of the no true Scotsman fallacy.
DeleteAn example would be when hareidim would say that MO don't have Gedolim. Then you name a few, and they say "they are not real Gedolim"
I think he was going in that direction. I said "true Talmidei Chachamim", the obious implication is that there are false ones.
