The U.S. stock market's decline deepened on Monday, with the S&P 500 sliding 2.7 percent as concerns grew over how much economic strain President Donald Trump's tariff policy and trade war will impose on Americans.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 2.1 percent, while the Nasdaq Composite took the heaviest hit, plunging 4 percent in its worst day since 2022.
On Sunday, Trump said the U.S. is going through a transitional period with respect to his trade policy.
