Five Republican Minnesota state senators are set to introduce a bill tomorrow that would classify "Trump Derangement Syndrome" (TDS), which they define as an "acute onset of paranoia" regarding the presidencies of Donald Trump, as a mental illness, according to state documents.
Throughout his presidential campaigns, Trump and his top communication advisers—including current White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and communications director Steven Cheung—have repeatedly accused many critics of having a "severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," as Cheung previously told Newsweek. The phrase has also been used by Republican politicians and talk show hosts, among others.
The bill seeking to classify TDS as a mental illness raises concerns about the politicization of mental health diagnoses, which could be used to misappropriate care, diminish other mental health concerns, and suppress dissent and political expression.
It's an obsessive illness on par with anti-Semitism. The sufferer spends all day on-line looking for articles about Trump that he can then post along with his personal condemnation. Every lie that's published is presented as truth. And there is nothing more important than hating Trump and letting everyone know they should too.
ReplyDeleteThe APA changed its diagnosis of same sex attraction from a disorder to what has become a preferred status.o
ReplyDeleteActually that's an interesting one. You'd think the stuff in the DSM is science based. Someone did a survery of common traits of a disease, that there are objective standards. Homosexuality used to be in the DSM. It was removed by an open vote one year the APA annual meeting. As in the guy running the meeting said "Who thinks being gay isn't a mental illness and we can take it out of the DSM? Okay, that's most of you."
