 President Trump’s campaign on Sunday distanced itself from Sidney Powell, saying that the lawyer who has been alleging voter fraud in the November election is “not a member of the Trump Legal Team.”

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own,” said Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani and another lawyer for Trump, Jenna Ellis, in a statement. “She is not a member of the Trump Legal Team. She is also not a lawyer for the President in his personal capacity.”

No further details or clarification was offered.

Perhaps Sidney Powell has gone too far even for Rudy Giuliani this time.

The Trump campaign’s legal team has moved to distance itself from the firebrand conservative attorney after a tumultuous few days in which Powell made multiple incorrect statements about the election voting process, unspooled complex conspiracy theories and vowed to “blow up” Georgia with a “biblical” lawsuit.

“Sidney Powell is practicing law on her own. She is not a member of the Trump legal team. She is also not a lawyer for the president in his personal capacity,” Giuliani and another lawyer for Trump, Jenna Ellis, said in a statement on Sunday.

Harvard Law Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said Sunday that while President Trump has a number of legal theories he can pursue in his efforts to swing the 2020 election result in his favor, it does not appear likely that these efforts will be successful.

Dershowitz, who was on Trump’s legal team during his impeachment, told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" that there are several avenues that Trump could take, but that even those options currently appear limited in their ability to secure an election victory.

  President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani made a rare appearance as an advocate in a courtroom this week in a baseless and hopeless effort to invalidate Joe Biden's victory.

Addressing the former New York City mayor, who was parroting Trump's lie about massive voter fraud, US District Court Judge Matthew Brann posed a devastating question at the hearing on Tuesday.

"You're alleging that the two individual plaintiffs were denied the right to vote. But at bottom, you're asking this court to invalidate more than 6.8 million votes, thereby disenfranchising every single voter in the Commonwealth. Could you tell me how this result could possibly be justified?"

On Saturday, the judge effectively answered his own question by dismissing the lawsuit and saying, "this Court has been presented with strained legal arguments without merit and speculative accusations...and unsupported by evidence."

הנה אף על פי שכל פרשת תולדות סובבת בעיקרה על תולדות חייו של יצחק, מכל מקום אם נעיין נראה שביחס לשאר האבות קיצרה התורה בספור חיי יצחק, כי בעוד סיפור חייו של אברהם ממלא חלק גדול משלש פרשיות בתורה ומאריכה התורה בכל פרט מעבודת אברהם עם הבריות וסיפור כל הקורות אתו, וכן אצל יעקב מאריכה התורה בחלק השני של ספר בראשית בסיפור כל מה שאירע לו, ואילו בסיפור קורות חייו של יצחק, שחי יותר שנים מאברהם ויעקב, עד אחר מכירתו של יוסף, מקצרת התורה ומוסרת לנו רק פרטים מועטים.

גם אם נעיין בלשון הרמב"ם [פ"א מעבודת כוכבים הל"ג] נראה שהאריך מאד בתיאור כל הפעולות שעשה אברהם, איך שהלך מעיר לעיר ומממלכה לממלכה והיה קורא בשם ה' עד שנתקבצו אליו אלפים ורבבות, וכן אצל יעקב האריך הרמב"ם בסיפור היותו יושב בישיבה ומרביץ תורה "והיה הדבר הולך ומתגבר בבני יעקב ובנלוים אחריהם ונעשית בעולם אומה שהיא יודעת את ה'", עיין שם, אבל אצל יצחק כמעט ולא כתב הרמב"ם כלום, וז"ל: וישב יצחק מלמד ומזהיר ויצחק הודיע ליעקב ומינהו ללמד וכו', הרי שבהשוואה לאברהם ויעקב היו פעולותיו של יצחק מצומצמות בהחלט, דהשפעת שאר האבות נבעה מהם לעולם כולו וזכו להעמיד תלמידים רבים, ואילו יצחק - הגם שהיתה לו ישיבה בשביל להעביר את המסורה מאברהם אביו, אבל היה לו רק תלמיד אחד - יעקב, וכנראה מסיפורי התורה ומלשון הרמב"ם לא זכה להעמיד תלמידים רבים כאברהם ויעקב. ענין זה טעון ביאור.

ונראה שהשינוי במדת ההשפעה של האבות תלוי באופן שבו הם השפיעו על סביבותם. כל אחד מהאבות היתה לו דרך משלו בהפצת האמונה בה' בעולם, אברהם דגל במדת החסד, יצחק במדת הגבורה, ויעקב במדת האמת. ונבאר:

רגילים אנחנו לחשוב על אברהם אבינו כמי שפתח את ביתו לאורחים וחילק את לחמו עמם, ואז, כשהודו לו, הורה להם איך להודות לה'. ואמנם אף שזה אמת, מכל מקום אין הדברים כפשוטם. כל עבודת אברהם בעולם היתה מיוסדת על התפעלותו העצומה והכרתו העמוקה מהשפעת החסד הבלתי פוסקת שבה ברא השי"ת את עולמו. מעשי החסד שעשה אברהם עם הבריות סימלו את מעשי החסד של הקדוש ברוך הוא עם בריותיו. כשאורחיו רצו להודות לו, כלומר כשהם התפעלו מטבעו הרחום ומפעולות החסד שלו, הסביר להם אברהם שכל מעשיו אינם אלא אופן בעבודת השי"ת, שכיון שהוא יתברך הוא יסוד ומהות החסד כמו כן עבודתו צריכה להיות באופן החסד - בבחינת מה הוא רחום אף אתה רחום, ולכן המדרגה הראשונה היא להודות לה'. זה היה מהלכו של אברהם בקירוב הבריות לעבודתו יתברך. ובאמת אורח חיים המיוסד על אדני החסד והרחמנות הוא מאד קוסם ונעים, כל אחד לפי טבעו נמשך לזה ורוצה להיות חלק מזה, ולכן הצטרפו אליו עשרות אלפי אוהדים ומעריצים2.

כמו כן יעקב ביסס את עבודתו לה' על לימוד התורה ובחיפוש מדת האמת לאמיתה, תתן אמת ליעקב. ואף שלכאורה זה אינו קוסם כדת ואורח חיים המיוסד על גמילות חסד, מכל מקום יש גם בזה כח משיכה אל הציבור, כי אפילו קטן שבקטנים יודע להבחין בין אמת לשקר ומתפעל ממדת האמת הצרופה עמה הוא נפגש, ולכן גם יעקב אבינו הצליח לכנס סביבו עם רב שלמד ממנו איך לעבוד את ה'.

אבל שונה מזה היתה מדתו של יצחק אבינו. דרכו בעבודת ה' היתה מיוסדת על מדת הדין והמשפט, כלומר מטרת האדם עלי אדמות היא לחיות כל שלבי חייו בתוך הגבולות המדוייקים של רצון ה' בלי לסטות מזה כלל, ואין שום מקום לפשרות בזה. התנהגות מעין זה מתפרסמת ומתחבבת רק אצל אלו המוכנים למשמעת חמורה וקפדנית ולהקרבה עצמית, שאמנם זכה יצחק אליה עד שבשעת העקדה מסר את נפשו ברצון ובשמחה כדי לקיים את רצון ה'. אין זה מפתיע, איפוא, שדרכו של יצחק לא היתה קוסמת ומושכת ורק מעטים הצטרפו אליה. רק תלמיד מובהק אחד היה לו, יעקב איש תם יושב אהלים, והוא זה שהמשיך את מסורת אברהם בדרכו הוא.

ואמנם כל זה אינו אלא בתקופת האבות עצמם [ועיין להלן [כ"ו כ"ח] שביארתי שבודאי השפיע יצחק גם על בני דורו], אבל בשביל עתידו של עם ישראל וביסוסו כעם הנבחר, לא היתה השפעתו של יצחק פחותה יותר מהשפעתם של אברהם ויעקב. כל אחד מהאבות השריש והנציח את מדתו בטבעו של עם ישראל, ואכן, אפילו מדתו של יצחק, הקרבה עצמית ומסירות נפש על קידוש השם, נשתרשה בטבע היהודי, ומאז ועד עתה מדה זו היא שנתנה את הכח והאומץ לכלל ישראל למסור את נפשם על קידוש שמו המיוחד, ודו"ק היטב בכל זה.
