Police had feared underground parties or haredi (ultra-Orthodox) tisches
would keep them busy over the Festival of Joy, and indeed there were
reports of packed synagogues against violations and yeshiva events that
broke restrictions on gathering. However, the Jaffa Flea Market turned
out to be the greatest challenge for police.
