Battle for Apartments in Mea Shearim between Gur & Neteurei Karta

  1. Can someone explain the background of this conflict, and who is in the right?

From what I heard, that Hirschmann fellow who some Gerrer guys viciously beat up a few weeks ago is NOT a Sikrikim guy as apparently the thugs who beat him portrayed him -- he is a Stoliner and he lives in the "Warsaw" section and these Gerrers want him to move out of his apartment.

  4. Not knowing anything about him, the Hirschman guy hardly seems like a terrorist.

Perhaps it's true that Ger was just after his apt and used the "he's a terrorist" business as a cover.

  5. This is a complete MONEY ISSUE as most things in life are. The bottom line is these pieces of real estate are mega-valuable and worth billions in today's shekels. They were bought by donors years ago and given to families to live in para gratius. Now there are those who want to change the tenants and take over.

Who side would you favor? Since all of us gave money to the first residents of Yerushalayim in the early 1900, these properties should be in the hands of the klal not the present day owners.

I once asked a 'sympathizer' to these people why is it not gezel to break windows of the Orach Chaim book store, he shrugged his shoulders...Am Ha'Eretzim....

  7. tzipschum:

On what basis do the people trying to force out the current residents have a right to force out the current residents?

One thing becomes VERY clear as one watches these type of videos and reads about such riots of frum Jews fighting their kith and kin, and such pretty and bacheinte and smart women in the background speaking up as young mothers and wives having to suffer (you'll notice their Ivrit is a lot better than their husbands') -- and that is that NONE of these people have ever heard or practice what is called MUSSAR, MIDDOS, and even CHASIDUS.

Who lets little kids run around and cause such damage? What kind of foolishness is it to allow children to burn Israeli flags or wave flags of the PLO. Would these people like Hamas or Hizbala to come in and deal with the bezerk Yahuds??? This is total madness.

Can one imagine the Baal Shem Tov, or Rav Yisroel Salanter, or the RAMCHAL, or any Chasidic Rebbe or great Rosh Yeshiva behaving like this or condoning this kind of behavior?

This is just a sign of just how much they have been infected by a hot-headed type of Middle Eastern mentality and acting JUST LIKE the would accuse and allege the "Tzionim" of misbehaving. At least in the Israeli army one is taught DISCIPLINE and that the WORST thing is emotional reactions that ultimately endanger one's sown life.

Pity that these Charedim do not have access to sports as an outlet or to any physical outlets for that matter. For them "having fun" means smashing, slashing, hurling, defacing and burning things. This is a descent to a state of virtual barbarism and primitiveness that invokes the importance of the timeless call of Pirkei Avos Chapter 3, Mishna 2. - The Ethics of the Fathers (the Torah She'Beal Peh's primary source of mussar):

"ג,ב רבי חנניה סגן הכוהנים אומר, הוי מתפלל בשלומה של מלכות--שאלמלא מוראה, איש את ריעהו חיים בלעו."

“Rabbi Chanina deputy of the Kohanim said ‘Pray for the welfare of the government. If it were not for the fear of the government, each man would eat his neighbor alive!’”

And since they have "no government" -- neither Neturei Karta nor Chasidim respect the authority of the secular Israeli government, it's just MOB RULE, with gangsters as overlords, and since none of their own current rabbis are doing anything, one can even assume that some rabbis like this kind of tumult and encourage it and use it as a dangerous weapon to advance their own agendas, that there should be absolutely no surprise that this kind of cruel hefkerus reigns supreme.

But even this cannot go on forever, because at a certain point "critical mass" will be reached when either someone gets hurt or killed or when so much damage and chaos is rife that the secular Israeli authorities will step in and impose martial law simply because they have ARMED police and military forces ALSO MADE UP OF JEWS and a willing to use them albeit reluctantly. The end result for the Charedim would then be a lessening of freedom from the "Tzionim" as more draconian measures will be imposed to re-instate public order. Either that, or the true Mashiach will come and impose his own solution!
