It is not enough for Israeli officials to say that Trump understands Israel’s position. This is not a great deal. It is a dangerous one.
What’s worse than giving Iran $6 billion? Giving it two $6 billions.
The United States and Iran signaled last week that they were close to a deal, with reports suggesting it could be signed in Geneva this week.
Alongside those announcements came accounts of what the framework may entail: a memorandum of understanding that would open another 60-day period of technical negotiations; the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz; possible access to frozen assets; discussions over dismantling Iran’s nuclear program and disposing of enriched uranium; and broader understandings affecting Lebanon.
Furthermore, Israel has not been a party to the talks, while Israeli officials have been left to repeat that US President Donald Trump understands Israel’s concerns and conditions.
If those reports are true, Trump’s Iran framework is a disaster.
Hello!
ReplyDeleteTrump is emphasising that it's very different from Obama's deal.
ReplyDeleteHow?
DeleteThe actual nuclear negotiations haven't started yet. He stated yesterday that if the iranians don't comply, he will star bombing them again. Whether this is true, i don't know
DeleteIt's the job of the demovrats in America to point out if it's a bad deal, or that it's Obama 2.0 , and hence prove that trump is a cissy.
ReplyDeleteIt doeesn't matter what the deal is. The media and the Democrats prepared the headlines when the war started.
DeleteGarnel your gas lighting doesn't work. Everyone thinks the Trump deal is bad the Right the Israelis even even the Republicans.
DeleteI agree that the deal is bad. My point is that even if it was great, the headlines would be "The deal is bad!"
DeleteThe deal has not yet been concluded. The nuclear issue has not been finalised. The war was very costly, and ultimately only a ground invasion or use of proxies would have a chance of toppling the regime.
DeleteThis is an ongoing job that Mossad will pursue, G-d willing.
JCPOA 2.0: Trump's deal risks undercutting efforts against the Iranian threat. Daf Hayomi today Chullin 48a: The Gemara relates that Rabbi Yitzḥak bar Yosef was walking after Rabbi Yirmeya in the butchers’ market. He saw these lungs that were full of cysts, and he wished to determine the halakha with regard to them. He said to Rabbi Yirmeya: Doesn’t the Master desire a piece of meat? If so, meat from those animals is for sale. Rabbi Yirmeya, not wanting to issue a ruling with regard to the meat, said to him: I have no money. Rabbi Yitzḥak bar Yosef said to him: I will buy them for you on credit. Rabbi Yirmeya realized that he could not avoid issuing a ruling, so he said to him: What can I do for you? As when people came before Rabbi Yoḥanan with such lungs, he would send them before Rabbi Yehuda, son of Rabbi Shimon, who would instruct them in such cases in the name of Rabbi Elazar, son of Rabbi Shimon, to permit the meat for consumption. But Rabbi Yoḥanan himself does not hold accordingly, and does not permit the meat. I practice stringency in accordance with his opinion.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. My theory. Courts, judges, leaders, doctors, often seek to avoid a definite ruling. Why? Lots of reasons, can get sued, punched in the face etc. As when people came before Rabbi Yoḥanan with such lungs, he would send them before Rabbi Yehuda… to permit the meat for consumption. Fine, Rabbi Yohanan didn’t want to make a definite ruling and didn’t want to get into a fight with the people that were showing him lungs with cysts. Rabbi Yohanan is the author of the Jerusalem Talmud, a gadol, a giant.
