Donald Trump v Fox News Sunday: extraordinary moments from a wild interview

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/jul/19/donald-trump-fox-news-sunday-chris-wallace-interview

‘I’ll be right eventually’

The interview was especially combative when it touched on Covid-19, which has infected 3.7 million and killed more than 140,000 people in the US.
Wallace repeatedly pressed Trump about the death toll, which the president attempted to deflect by pointing to mortality rates in other countries and saying the US had “one of the lowest in the world”.
“That’s not true, sir,” Wallace said, correctly.
The argument continued, and Trump asked his press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, to “please bring me the mortality rate”.
“You have the numbers, please?” Trump asked. “Because I hear we have the best mortality rate. Number, number one low mortality rate.”
Waving a paper, Trump said: “I hope you show this on air, because it shows what fake news is about.”
“I don’t think I’m fake news,” Wallace said.

'I Have to See.' President Trump Refuses to Say If He Will Accept the 2020 Election Results

President Donald Trump refused to give a clear answer on whether he would accept this year’s presidential election results in an exclusive wide-ranging interview with Fox News, which aired Sunday.
Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace pressed Trump to “give a direct answer” on whether he would accept the Nov. 3 election results or not.
“I have to see. Look, you — I have to see. No, I’m not going to just say ‘yes.’ I’m not going to say no and I didn’t last time either,” Trump said.

6 years, 68 court dates since arrest, Leifer extradition hearing set for Monday

Nearly six years and 68 court dates since her initial arrest, the Jerusalem District Court will convene an extradition hearing on Monday morning for Malka Leifer, who is wanted in Australia on 74 charges of child sex abuse.
The hearing is expected to be largely procedural given that the court already ruled in May that the former principal of the Adass Israel ultra-Orthodox girls school in Melbourne has been feigning mental illness in order to avoid extradition and is competent enough to face justice.

Portland protests: Mayor demands federal troops leave city

Federal agents, deployed by President Trump, have fired tear gas into crowds of demonstrators. Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf previously called the protesters a "violent mob".
Late on Saturday, protesters were seen dismantling a fence around the federal courthouse, hours after it was put up.
The US Attorney's office in Oregon said on Twitter that the fence aimed to "de-escalate tensions" between protesters and law enforcement officials and asked people to leave it alone.
Officers declared a riot outside the Portland Police Association building. It was set on fire.

Trump Leans Into False Virus Claims in Combative Fox News Interview

Mr. Trump again tried to attack Mr. Biden, claiming that the former vice president wanted to defund the police. The president suggested this was evidenced by his work with more progressive Democrats to create a charter pledging to work together on matters including changes to policing.

“It says nothing about defunding the police,” Mr. Wallace said of that document.
“Oh really? It says abolish, it says defund. Let’s go! Get me the charter, please,” Mr. Trump said, before demanding to see the document. In a promotional clip of the interview, Mr. Wallace said the president had been unable to find evidence that Mr. Biden sought to defund or abolish the police.

Biden campaign fires back after Trump interview: Polls show 'smears aren't working'

The campaign of Joe Biden,  the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate, responded to President Trump's interview that aired Sunday on "Fox News Sunday" by accusing Trump of lying about the former vice president, who is currently leading in the polls.
Trump took a number of shots at Biden, accusing him of being mentally incapable of being president and taking far-left positions such as wanting to defund police departments

“For over a year, Donald Trump and his campaign have cycled through the same self-defeating attacks against Joe Biden and have failed to get traction on a single one," Biden's deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said in a statement. "President Trump gave it yet another go on 'Fox News Sunday' this morning. He lurched from smear to smear, all while being forcefully corrected on most, including the lie that Joe Biden wouldn't keep the American people safe and supports defunding the police — which has been fact-checked into oblivion over the last month."
Indeed, host Chris Wallace interjected when Trump said Biden wanted to defund police.

"He does not," Wallace corrected. Trump then referred to the recommendations put forth by the Biden's Unity Task Force made up of his supporters and those of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

"It says nothing about defunding the police," Wallace said, but Trump insisted that Biden wants to defund police.

BLM's primary policy prescription — defunding the police — has already been endorsed by Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, and ratified by various cities and institutions. It will not make life safer for black Americans. Just the opposite, as Heather Macdonald points out in the July 1 City Journal.

Even Fox News says it is not true

Trump Caught Lying About Biden’s Police Stance in Fox News Interview Debacle

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/07/trump-fox-news-joe-biden-chris-wallace-defund-police-caught-lying.html

President Trump, apparently realizing that he has little chance to defeat Joe Biden, has decided instead to run against an imaginary candidate who shares a name with his Democratic opponent but few of the same policy proposals. In an interview with Fox News host Chris Wallace, Trump asserted that Biden wants to “defund the police.” Wallace stopped him and pointed out that this is not true. Trump, who usually bluffs his way through moments when his lies are called out by throwing out new lies, instead claimed to have a document that would prove it. “Oh, really? It says ‘abolish’ — let’s go, get me the charter, please!” he said, calling for his aides.

They could not, of course, because Trump’s claims are flatly false. Biden did sign a charter with Bernie Sanders in which he endorsed several positions that brought him closer to his left-wing opponent. He did not, however, agree to defund or abolish the police.

Wallace told his audience that Trump “couldn’t find any indication, because there isn’t any, that Joe Biden has sought to defund and abolish the police.” That is a humiliating result for a Fox News interview.

Both parents should not be angry with achild at same time

Berachos (63b) Abbahu said: The Holy One, blessed be He, said to Moses: Now they will say, The Master is angry and the disciple is angry, what will happen to Israel? If thou wilt restore the tent to its place, well and goods but if not, Joshua son of Nun, the disciple, will minister in thy place. Therefore it is written, ‘And he would return to the camp’.
