Learning a Few Good Middos from President Trump

yated

This criticism of Mr. Trump’s leadership has appeared in editorials, letters to the editor, and even major articles in frum publications since the election and inauguration. Without delving into these accusations, I personally have responded privately by explaining that none of us were voting to place Donald Trump on the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah or to submit kvittlach to him for brachos. He was by far the best candidate for president, and his actions thus far have supported that hope and prayer. However, I believe that there is at least one middah—and as we will see, many more—that are worth highlighting for several reasons. It is something we can all learn from and emulate. It is an admirable trait for a leader and one to be proud of. Most importantly, the Torah itself recommends that we follow this approach to life.

  1. Here's an interesting question to ponder: Let's say Hitler, y"sh, didn't hate Jews. Suppose he had no problem with us. In fact, let's say he recognized that Jewish Germans could give Germany an edge in military, scientific and cultural development and encouraged such things. Otherwise he was the same ol' Hitler, with the whole "I want Germany to rule the world" shtick, just he didn't hate Jews.
    Would Jews have opposed him?
I'll actually give you the answer: No, they wouldn't have. In fact, in his book on the Seridei Eish, z"l, Prof Marc Shapiro includes a letter from the Berlin Jewish community to Hitler in 1933 basically saying, "Listen, we agree with most of your platform. We want Germany to be proud, strong and prosperous and we want to help so could you please stop it with the anti-Semitism thing?"
So yes, there is a lot that is negative about Trump but ultimately, if he's good for America and the Jews, shouldn't that, um, trump, the bad stuff?

    3. So when Stalin supplied Israel with weapons in 1948, Ben Gurion should've said no?
