שום תשים עליך מלך אשר יבחר ה' אלהיך בו מקרב אחיך תשים עליך מלך וגו', .... הגם שאדם ילמוד כל התורה וילמוד כל ספרי קודש ודברי חז"ל אינו מועיל לו לתשובה שלימה ולהסיר ממנו כל המסכים המבדילים אם אינו מתדבק לצדיקי הדור וקדושי ה'. וכן שמעתי מאדמו"ר איש אלהים מורינו אלימלך זצוק"ל כי בחר לו צדיק אחד בדור שהיה לו רבו. ואת מי יבחור לרבו אלופו ומיודעו כשיראה צדיק שהנהגותיו ביציאתו ובביאתו הוא מתנהג על פי התורה הקדושה ואינו מיקל כלום חלילה הן בדאורייתא והן בדרבנן, ובתוך לבו הוא יקד יקוד אש ביחודים ומחשבתו ניכר מתוך מעשיו זה יבחור לו לרבי:

how do we indentify the Tzaddik Hador?
ReplyDeletePresumably this was a Chassidic author - and they refer to themselves as Tzaddikim.
So it is a good idea, but it is also possible to miscontrue the concept of a Tzaddik and end up being led by the blinded lead goat, who leads us off a cliff.
The argument of "accepted" is logically problematic - who are the acceptors? And what gives them the tools to determine somebody's Tzidkus?
Even previous generation Gadol Hador who was chavruta of Berland was hoodwinked into calling him a "Tzaddik".
Today, and perhaps yesterday , Tzaddik is a good way of making money - the Tzaddik label, and brand brings in million$$$.
So since I don't know who the tzaddik hador is, I guess I might as well eat on Yom Kippur.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the tzaddik may be a hidden person or even a hated one. Rav Kook , to the people who knew him was a Tzaddik - that was what Rav Isser Zalman Meltzer would say about him.
ReplyDeleteAmongst Misnagdim, there is not so much a Tzaddik hador, but a gadol or posek hador - i.e. greatest scholar or decisor - and it is subsumed that they are tzaddikim. But their leadershop and influence is not based on them being Tzaddikim, but on being very great Torah scholars and have special vision and guidance.
So basically Chrisianity with fur hats.
