Panic broke out in the departure hall at Israel’s main airport on Thursday after a family of American tourists tried to board a plane with an artillery shell in their luggage.

The Airports Authority said security officers sounded an emergency alert and ordered the evacuation of the area when they discovered the unexploded shell.

The Airports Authority said the family had traveled to northern Israel’s Golan Heights, where one of the children found the old artillery shell.

It is the usual practice in this world that if a person is entrusted to the care of a thousand men it is his duty to feed them. Why? This accords with the text, There shall be no mischief befall the righteous (Prov. XII, 21). Neither shall any plague come nighthy tent (Ps. loc. cit.). R. Johanan expounded: Before the Tabernacle had been erected the demons were wont to vex mankind in this world. From the moment when the Tabernacle was erected, and the Shechinah took up its residence here below, the demons were exterminated from the world. Thus the text, ‘Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent’ alludes to the Tent of Meeting. Said R. Simeon b. Lakish: What need for you to trouble with the book of Psalms? Surely, there is nothing wanting in the original1 context, which reads The Lord bless thee, and keep thee (Num. VI, 24), i.e. from the demons. When would that be? IT CAME TO PASS ON THE DAY THAT MOSES HAD MADE AN END (KALLOTH) OF SETTING UP THE TABERNACLE. What is the signification of KALLOTH? It denotes that the demons were exterminated (kallu) from the world.

The Health Ministry has launched a polio vaccination campaign for children across the country ages six weeks to 17 years, the ministry announced at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of a number of polio cases being detected in Israeli children, all of whom were unvaccinated. As of April, at least eight children in Israel have been found to have polio, seven of whom have no symptoms. The poliovirus was detected in sewage samples taken from Jerusalem and the surrounding areas after a four-year-old child exhibited symptoms of the disease in early March.

Hagah: Similarly, he should be careful of all things that cause danger, because danger is stricter than transgressions, and one should be more careful with an uncertain danger than with an uncertain issur. They also prohibited to go in a dangerous place, such as under a leaning wall, or alone at night. They also prohibited to drink water from rivers at night or to put one's mouth on a stream of water and drink, because these matters have a concern of danger. It is the widespread custom not to drink water during the equinox, and the early ones wrote this and it is not to be changed. They also wrote to flee from the city when a plague is in the city, and one should leave at the beginning of the plague and not at the end. And all of these things are because of the danger, and a person who guards his soul will distance himself from them and it is prohibited to rely on a miracle in all of these matters.

Shulchan Arukh (Choshen Mishpat 427:9) The sages prohibited many things because of danger to a person. And some of them are explained in the Tur. Additionally, there are other things and these are they: A person must never put his mouth to a pipe spouting water and drink; he must not drink from rivers or ponds at night, for fear that he might swallow a leech without seeing. This appalling miscarriage of justice is putting you and so many people in such bad light and at the heart of this are two young boys denied access to their mother.

I am one of several thousand of Beth Alexander’s supporters and I sure you know that there is an increasing awareness worldwide of this appalling situation.

Something very shady has gone on here with a whiff of corruption at the heart of it. Dr Schlesinger is a known perpetrator of domestic violence, who had been previously legally barred from the household, so he could not have been awarded sole custody of his children without players influencing the courts behind the scenes. Schlesinger could not have acted alone, and it is known that some of his contacts in the IKG (Konstanze Thau and Jacob Biderman) influenced court decisions in Schlesinger’s favour in 2011.

I’m sure you’re looking forward to spending seder night with family members which sadly is not the case for Beth. Another year without her precious sons. Can you even begin to imagine what this is like this living nightmare?

She has in fact never heard her own children recite ma nishtana, nor has she spent seder night. She is being deliberately and systematically erased by her ex-husband out of her children’s lives.

The boys are now 12 and their bar mitzvah is coming up.They need their mother in their lives.

As a man with influence you know what needs to be done to resolve this terrible matter for all the family. Please do the right thing.

Based on the ruling of the renowned Sephardic posek, the Knesset haGedolah, Rabbi Chaim ben Yisrael Benvenisti (1603-73),1 who permitted “the fish with the sword,” halakhic decisors over three hundred of the last three hundred and fifty years, repeatedly and uniformly permitted some types of “swordfish.” The first time this was seriously challenged seems to have been by Rabbi Moshe David Tendler, Ph.D., in America in the 1950s. For reasons explored in this paper, his challenge was phenomenally successful. No one growing up Orthodox in the United States during the last forty years would have dreamed of considering the swordfish kosher. Indeed, currently, in every kosher fish list belonging to an Orthodox kashrut organization in America, the swordfish is categorized as non-kosher.2
