I have been watching this frenzy of articles relating to Hasidic controversies unfold on this blog and I am somewhat disappointed.
One reason is that when I had previously cited the actions of the present Belzer in assisting with two converts from Europe get married Dr. Eidensohn/"da'as torah" denigrated Chasidic rebbes by calling them shaking headless fish.
Another reason is that many of these are old and stale debates, like Prof. Berger's and much more.
But really, my main gripe is that quite obviously Dr. Eidnesohn is driving at somthing and instead of getting down to brass tacks and making his point directlly, he is taking the long (wrong?) route by travelling the road of what this and that gadol said which is all fine and dandy, but it is all really very tendentious and it is only there as the backround music for what Dr. Eidensohn really wants to say here which can be said in a few sentnces.
Such as "Chasidism is nice but it's off the derech of so-called 'Da'as Torah' as defined by this blog", or "Lubavitch and Breslov are cuckoo organizations and people for believeing in 'toite rebbes' ('dead rebbes')" or "there is still a serious objection and cherem by Misnagdim, stemming from the GRA, against Chasidim." Or a final point that "Chabad and Breslov kiruv is 'treif' because the movements are inherently 'off'."
So instead of all this verbiage, how about stating what it is you want to state upfront for the whole world to hear and learn instead of making all these boring, yet potentially divisive posts.
SINAS CHINAM DESTROYED THE BEIS HAMOKDASH THE GEMARA SAYS THE REASON IS PEOPLE SAID WHOEVER IS NOT LIKE ME IS A KOIFER (SOME THINGS NEVER CHANGE) ============================== 1) do believe that there are red lines that a Jew can not cross? 2) Do accept that there is a category of apikorus? 3) Do you acknowledge that sometimes practices that are different than your are wrong and need to be stopped?
Bottom line I suggest you study a little about sinas chinom means.
Does anyone know where to find a store with a copy of HaGaon for sale in Yerushalayim?

Baruch Hashem, I found what must be the last copy of HaGaon in Meah Shearim. Hashgachah.
