Why Fox's coverage is so important
Given
that Republicans largely turn to Fox for their news, it's likely the
network's previous dismissive coverage has affected how Republicans view
the crisis. A Gallup poll published Monday found that "political party identification reflects the starkest differences in levels of worry about coronavirus exposure."
According
to the poll, "Democrats (73%) are the most worried of any group, and
their level of worry has increased the most out of any group. Meanwhile,
less than half of Republicans (42%) report having this level of concern
-- the lowest of any group Gallup measured." Hopefully things will
change with the network's shift in tone...
We've turned thd corner on this thing due to President Trump's deft touch: not overreacting, yet doing all the right things. Excellent use of his powers, striking the right balance, and we are indebted to the chief executive and his crack team of experts in public health.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to disagree. The US has remained behind the curve. China and Italy are the two extremes. By embracing their open fascism, China shut their society down in an extreme fashion and that's working (or so they're saying). Italy had a "What me worry?" attitude and it's exploding over there. The US is still in the middle but on the Italian side of the middle. The idea that March Break will still happen and that people are still hoping for parties and gatherings is bizarre. (And you can't blame it on Trump!) Testing is still behind schedule. Canada, with 10% of the US population, has done twice as much testing. This could blow up very quickly.
ReplyDeleteChina is in its own league. There are reports that they kill political undesirables and harvest their organs.
ReplyDeleteWhat more can he do?
ReplyDeletePerhaps but they can exert the control needed to end the plague. The West can't. You can blame Trump all you want but he's not responsible for packed crowds in supermarkets and parties on beaches during March break.
