After a lifetime devoted to
avoiding responsibility and accountability -- for his lies, his
deceptions, his hype, and his cruelty -- President Donald Trump has met
his match in the pandemic of 2020.
His bluff and bluster are powerless as thousands of Americans die and
the blame falls, in part, on his failure to heed the warnings and
execute a robust national response. This occurred even though a pandemic playbook had been left behind by the Obama administration. Early in the crisis, Trump said
"We have it totally under control. It's one person coming from China.
It's going to be just fine." Weeks were wasted and now the price of
this fiasco will likely be a loss of life far greater than 9/11 or
Hurricane Katrina.
History is written with bias.
ReplyDeleteRight now the Chinese are writing history - now this virus was brought to China by visiting US soldiers and there's no connection to outdoor markets. The doctors who revealed the virus' existence are now national heroes who were wrongly persecuted by bad policement. The leadership of the Communist Party is what saved China from decimation and the harsh quarantines and lockdowns were joyously accepted by the people. That's the history Chinese children will learn starting, well starting now.
So CNN is now a history channel? There will be other historians as well. We'll know in a few years how Trump's legacy will play out.
You are obviously correct and we need to rely rather on the unbiased sources at Fox News and the White House then the obviously biased writers at CNN?!
ReplyDeleteThis raises a bigger issue - how much of recorded history can we trust?
ReplyDeleteTake for example the history of the famous Battle of Lexington and Concord.
ReplyDeleteWe know how it was taught in American schools.
But what was the British view on the events?
Here's how the British might have reported it in the news...

Still believe CNN huh?
ReplyDeleteI seriously doubt Trump won't be re-elected.
The only thing missing from this history lesson is the "fact" that LGBT identifying people exposed the President's chicanery, and LGBT scientists discovered the cure, and LGBT patients were discriminated against by hateful doctors, and globohomo economists wrested control of finances from the government and created a stable lasting bank with digital currency.
ReplyDeleteI seriously doubt your opinion is correct!
ReplyDeletewill the elections be held on time, or delayed, like the Olympics?
ReplyDeleteCloser to home - Arab vs Jewish versions of the 1948 war.
ReplyDeleteNot my point at all but let's look at the Canadian experience where the Canadian government is boasting about how seriously it's taking its response efforts to the virus. Except that when the virus first hit Canada and people suggests a travel ban to China, the same government along with Public Health leaders condemned the idea as "racist" and refused to do it. As the virus spread, the prime minister went overseas to a dozen countries to lobby for Canada to get a UNSC seat. All he got was his wife catching CoVID and bringing it back to Canada. He tells Canadians to sit put but sent his family to a rural cottage to hide out. But he'll want history to remember his definitive and unwavering leadership.
ReplyDeleteHas Trump made mistakes? Plenty. Has he done some things right? Yes, he has. But for anti-Trumpists, what he's done right will either be explained away or have credit diverted to others. Meanwhile, the liberal side also made plenty of mistakes early on. I keep telling you: both sides are corrupt, both screwed up and focusing on Trump misses the bigger point that it's the system, not the man, that's causing the downfall of Western civilization.
