Dear Leaders,
We're sending this reminder, for those who have not done so already, to please send out follow-up pleas to your lists, to alert them to follow up with their own NY state Senator, if he's possibly wavering on opposing S138 (https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2025/A136), as follows (or something similar) - and to urge their friends to act likewise - by this Monday, June 9:
"If you vote for S138 -- and thereby enable the killing of innocent grandmas and grandpas - we cannot vote for you."
• We must fight not just hard, but also smart. We need impress on any susceptible senator not merely our position on the issue - but, even more so, our irreconcilable unwavering conviction against voting for them - if they opt to violate their mandate to govern, by legitimizing and facilitating the murder of the vulnerable en- masse.
Any politician inclined towards enabling mass killing of innocents must understand that this is a pivotal issue in deciding our next vote. Failure to effectively convey that key message is liable to be fatal, literally.
• To again summarize the basic issue:
A) S138 would allow medical professionals to actively poison people they claim are (1) "terminally ill" and (2) allegedly expressed the will to die, at some point. This is full-fledged retzichah, murder - prohibited to all of Mankind.
B) As evil as that is -- the bill is actually far worse. In practice, such legislation enables unofficial euthanasia - meaning killing patients who never expressed any desire to die. The senators need to know that we understand this.

TITLE OF BILL:
An act to amend the public health law, in relation to a terminally ill
patient's request for and use of medication for medical aid in dying
PURPOSE:
To provide that a mentally competent, terminally ill patient may request
medication to be self-administered for the purpose of hastening the
patient's death provided the requirements set forth in the act are met,
and to provide certain protection and immunities to health care provid-
ers and other persons, including a physician who prescribes medication
in compliance with the provisions of the article to the terminally ill
patient to be self-administered by the patient.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS:
Section 1 provides that this act shall be known and may be cited as the
"Medical Aid in Dying Act".
The witness section allows numerous biased witnesses like life insurance beneficiaries, medical insurance provider employees, inheritors if they sign first and then become an inheritor etc.

ReplyDeleteThe first version of MAiD was for the terminally ill who were expected to die reasonably soon and were suffering intolerably.
It's now pretty much anyone, anytime, anywhere.
