Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country's top infectious disease expert at the
National Institute of Health, on Tuesday cautioned that states which
circumvent the White House's criteria to relax social distancing
guidelines could result in a second outbreak that overwhelms society.
Greece - Population 10.7 million - 152 deaths - early lockdown
ReplyDeleteIsrael - 9.7million - 260 deaths - early lockdown
Sweden 10Million - 3460 deaths - no lockdown
USA - big problem , big population..
South Korea Population 51.6 million 10,962 cases, 259 deaths - Extensive Screening-Testing-Contact Tracing-Isolation program, universal mask wearing, and schools being closed, all implemented right away.
ReplyDeleteIt's too late to implement that in USA.
ReplyDeleteNo it isn't. Not after transmission was just choked off with 2 months of lockdown and case prevalence is much lower now. Implementing a system will MITIGATE further spread.
ReplyDeleteNo other mitigation efforts are perfect. Hand washing, mask wearing, school closing, attempting to stand far away from people. NONE of these are perfect. But they are all important to implement and all contribute to mitigating spread. Because virus spreads exponentially, choking off transmission from various measures has outsized gains.
The idea that a test and trace system wouldn't be perfect is not a valid reason not to implement one.
In UK they are easing Lockdown. It's going to get ugly, unfortunately
ReplyDeleteThere would need to be a country wide lockdown for 3 months. At the moment, armed idiots are protesting. It seems that individual States are autonomous, so it's not easy.
