Pelosi Salon Scandal: Stylist Says It Was A Set Up

KEY FACTS

Soleiman, APC, the firm representing stylist Jonathan DeNardo, said in a statement that e Salon SF owner Erica Kious authorized him to go forward with the appointment even though it violated local health rules prohibiting salons from operating indoors.

It’s unclear if DeNardo knew the appointment violated health orders or if he was mistaken about the rules, as Pelosi’s office says they were told by the salon they were “allowed by the city to have one customer at a time in the business.” (Soleiman, APC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Forbes).

During a phone conversation when the appointment was approved, Kious “made several vitriolic and incendiary comments about Speaker  Pelosi and her purported responsibility for temporarily suspending operations of Ms. Kious’ business,” according to the statement.

The law firm representing DeNardo says it has photographs, video footage and witness statements alleging that Kious has herself been violating health orders by operating her business indoors while not wearing a mask since April 2020, despite her admonishment of the visit in an interview with Fox News.

 https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/france-protests-israels-deportation-of-terrorist-who-planned-to-kill-chief-rabbi-641472

France has registered an official protest against Israel’s planned deportation of French-Palestinian terrorist Salah Hamouri, who planned to assassinate former chief rabbi Ovadia Yosef, along with other attacks.

Paris asked Israel on Sunday to postpone the expulsion and allow Hamouri, who is a French citizen, to be reunited with his family in Jerusalem.

Foreign Ministry deputy director-general for Europe Anna Azari told French Ambassador to Israel Eric Danon that Israel plans to revoke Hamouri’s residency in light of his continued, active membership in the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP).

DeJoy exposed for pressuring his employees to donate to Republicans. Campaign Finance Violations?

Postmaster General DeJoy Reportedly Reimbursed Employees After Bundling Donations

Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, a GOP mega-donor whose operational changes at the U.S. Postal Service have led to allegations that he is intentionally sabotaging mail-in voting, reimbursed employees from whom he solicited political donations, according to a Washington Post report.

The Post report suggests his status as a bundler may have been built on illegal fundraising practices, with former employees of New Breed Logistics, DeJoy’s former business, alleging he “pressured” them to make political contributions to GOP candidates which were later “reimbursed” through bonuses.

The Post found a pattern of New Breed employees making uniform donations to candidates, often on the same day, with donations from employees dwindling after DeJoy’s departure in 2015 and one former employees telling the Post they “felt little choice” but to donate due to DeJoy’s “heavy-handed demeanor” and reputation for angering easily.

Large weddings blamed as virus rates spike in NYC Orthodox neighborhoods

 https://www.timesofisrael.com/large-weddings-blamed-as-virus-rates-spike-in-nyc-orthodox-neighborhoods/

Rising fears about a second wave of coronavirus cases in New York City’s Orthodox communities appear to be coming to pass, with the proportion of tests turning up cases of the disease more than four times the citywide rate in one heavily Orthodox neighborhood in newly released data from late August. Meanwhile, rising cases in New Jersey, Baltimore and other areas with large Orthodox populations represent a threat to in-person instruction at local Jewish schools, many of which reopened last week, as well as plans for in-person services for the High Holidays.

And even as many Orthodox leaders are exhorting community members to follow public health recommendations to wear masks and avoid large gatherings, others say they intend to flout rules designed to stop the spread of the disease.

Marine Le Pen sparks outrage over Holocaust comments

 https://edition.cnn.com/2017/04/10/europe/france-marine-le-pen-holocaust/index.html

Le Pen's latest remarks will do little to disprove her rivals' belief that she has failed to the Front National's image and move it away from the anti-Semitic rhetoric employed by her father, the party's former leader, Jean-Marie Le Pen.

Her attempt to persuade voters that her party had reformed its views was hit last month, when one of its counselors was suspended over allegations of Holocaust denial, after he was caught on camera playing down the systematic murder of six million Jews.
Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of the Front National, was expelled from the party in 2015 after describing the Holocaust, in which six million Jews were murdered by the Nazis, as a "detail of history."

Kevin McCarthy warns Trump's war on mail could screw GOP

 https://www.axios.com/republicans-mail-in-voting-trump-a75b7b58-6405-4840-a48f-e26caf72b0fc.html

Between the lines: McCarthy says he agrees with Trump that there's a difference between absentee voting, in which voters request a ballot, and vote-by-mail programs, where jurisdictions automatically send ballots to registered voters.

  • McCarthy sees vote by mail as particularly problematic in states that don't have the infrastructure to handle such ballots on a massive scale.
  • But he said most Americans don't get the distinction.

Reality check: There's no evidence that voting by mail is plagued by fraud. Trump himself voted by mail in Florida last month.

Trump campaign: Media is conflating mail-in voting and absentee voting
