President Trump has repeatedly said he wants Palestinians in Gaza to move out of the devastated enclave and into neighboring Egypt and nearby Jordan. The Arab world is pushing back, ostensibly because it would undermine efforts to create a Palestinian state.
It's not a plan. Strictly a trial balloon.

ReplyDeleteYou live in a house and suddenly one day a new guy moves into the house next door. Thing is, you hoped a friend of yours would buy the house but this guy grabbed it first. That makes you mad.
So you shout at the guy and threaten him day and night, hoping he'll get tired of it and move. Doesn't work. Instead you buy a dog, a mean Rotweiler. You train it to hate your neighbour. He barks, growls and rushes at him, does his business on his lawn.
And what does your neighbour do? He puts up a strong fence and when the dog gets too close, he pulls out pepper spray and makes the dog learn not to come too close.
And this goes on for a while until one day you realize that your neighbour isn't such a bad guy. He's done nice things with the house and the lawn. He's pushing up real estate prices in the neighbourhood which is good for you. And you slowly forget why you hated him and decide you want to make friends with him. One day you go over to introduce yourself and tell him to let bygones be bygones but as you're about to knock on his door, your dog comes running up in a lather, barking and howling in rage and the hope he'll get to attack your neighbour.
In other words, the reason for the dog is gone but the damned dog is still there.
