Weeks after President Trump demanded
that America’s shuttered houses of worship be allowed to reopen, new
outbreaks of the coronavirus are surging through churches across the
country where services have resumed.
The
virus has infiltrated Sunday sermons, meetings of ministers and
Christian youth camps in Colorado and Missouri. It has struck churches
that reopened cautiously with face masks and social distancing in the
pews, as well as some that defied lockdowns and refused to heed new
limits on numbers of worshipers.
Amazing how churches and Trump rallies are major sources of cases but protests and riots aren't. Funny thing.
ReplyDeleteBut this was entirely predictable based on scientific data and case reports of previous superspreader events. Why do people continue to believe "It can't happen here" in the face of undeniable evidence?
ReplyDeleteYour large gathering, no matter what the cause is, is a facilitator for the spread of covid19. Period. And it's worse with singing or chanting. Synagogue, protest, church, rally, it doesn't matter.
Shuls were also eager to reopen. Why not let other religions run that experiment on themselves first?
