Monday, ignoring the ban. Bonfires and gatherings were also reported in
Beit Shemesh and the incidents drew an angry rebuke from Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu, who ordered a police crackdown on the illegal
celebrations on Monday night.
Since April 16, the number of recovered cases has exceeded the number of new cases in Israel. Let's watch carefully over the next two weeks to see if this makes a difference.
ReplyDeleteBut here's an ethical question for you. An Arab at Ben Gurion Airport gets extra security checking because, well because he's an Arab and a certain number of that community, even though they're a minority, are a threat to Israel. So this guy might have nothing to do with any terrorists, he may have been a law abiding citizen his whole life, he might even vote for Shas, but he's getting the extra check.
At what point do we on the outside apply this standard to Chareidim? A Chareidi guy shows up at my door wanting money. (That's pretty much the only time I see Chareidim where I live) When do I get to say "You're from the community that constantly ignores the rules and is active in spreading disease. I have nothing for you."?
