White House’s Iran memes horrify many veterans of U.S. wars
https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2026/03/25/veterans-backlash-white-house-iran-memes/
When the retired U.S. Army colonel Joe Buccino first saw White House posts mixing Iran war footage with clips from cartoons and video games, he felt something he had rarely experienced from American military messaging: disgust.
But President Donald Trump’s top communications team, he said, had decided to treat the international conflict like a big joke. Veterans who were already questioning the war’s strategy and endgame, he added, were unnerved to find the nation’s highest office posting pop-music-scored clips of missile strikes, mixed with footage from Call of Duty and “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
However, officials there have also said that public outrage is key to driving up views. When the singer Kesha complained that her song had been used in a war meme TikTok, White House communications director Steven Cheung said on X: “All these ‘singers’ keep falling for this. This just gives us more attention and more view counts to our videos because people want to see what they’re bitching about.”
John Vick, the executive director of Concerned Veterans for America, a conservative advocacy group, told The Washington Post in a statement that the military’s success deserves to be celebrated, but that “gamifying or making light of war also undermines the sacrifice of the Americans who have died, and obfuscates the cost of open-ended conflict.”
Tehran Says Trump’s Claim US Wants Deal Is ‘Fake News’
Iran has rejected as "fake news" President Donald Trump's claims that a deal to end the war is near, as Tehran continued to bombard the Gulf states.
The Trump administration sent a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran via Pakistan, it has been reported. But Iranian military spokesman Lt. Col. Ebrahim Zolfaghari appeared to mock these attempts, telling state television: "someone like us will never come to terms with someone like you."
Angels Are The Natural Forces And Processes

Moreh Nevuchim (02:06) All parts of the Universe, even the limbs of animals in their actual form, are produced through angels: for natural forces and angels are identical. How bad and injurious is the blindness of ignorance! Say to a person who is believed to belong to the wise men of Israel that the Almighty sends His angel to enter the womb of a woman and to form there the fœtus, he will be satisfied with the account; he will believe it, and even find in it a description of the greatness of God’s might and wisdom; although he believes that the angel consists of burning fire, and is as big as a third part of the Universe, yet he considers it possible as a divine miracle. But tell him that God gave the seed a formative power which produces and shapes the limbs, and that this power is called “angel,” or that all forms are the result of the influence of the Active Intellect, and that the latter is the angel, the Prince of the world, frequently mentioned by our Sages, and he will turn away; because he cannot comprehend the true greatness and power of creating forces that act in a body without being perceived by our senses. Our Sages have already stated—for him who has understanding—that all forces that reside in a body are angels, much more the forces that are active in the Universe.
Epic flurry: How Trump’s words on Iran have yo-yoed over three weeks of war
Over the course of nearly a month since the first US strikes on Iran, President Donald Trump has yo-yoed from demanding “unconditional surrender” to teasing a possible detente.
Confusion has become a mark of this war.

When it comes to the Iranian regime, the very fact that it remains in power constitutes a victory; Even if Trump did not intend to retreat, from the moment he entered the negotiations track, Iran found itself exactly where it wants to be
After the 12-day war, both Netanyahu and Trump issued a series of statements declaring total victory. “Iran’s nuclear facilities have been destroyed — and anyone who says otherwise is spreading fake news,” Trump declared in an official White House statement on June 25, 2025. “In the 12 days of Operation Rising Lion we achieved a historic victory that will stand for generations. We removed two immediate existential threats: annihilation by nuclear bombs and annihilation by 20,000 ballistic missiles… We destroyed Iran’s missile production industry,” Netanyahu said in a special address on June 24, 2025.
Trump says talks with Iran progressing, as Israel said to fear premature ceasefire
Israel’s Channel 12 news reported Tuesday that the Trump administration has conveyed 15 conditions to Iran as its terms for ending the current war, which an Israeli official familiar with the matter later confirmed the details of to The Times of Israel, while expressing skepticism that Iran will agree to such a framework. The official also confirmed that Washington informed Jerusalem ahead of its negotiations with Tehran on ending hostilities, which began on Sunday, without specifying how far ahead of time.
Nonetheless, it said, Jerusalem is concerned that Trump and his team want to push quickly for “a framework agreement, an agreement in principle” with Iran, rather than insisting on these demands as a condition for halting the war.
“The scenario of a rapid, ambiguous agreement in principle is giving Israel’s political and security leaders sleepless nights,” Channel 12 reported, because it risks a situation in which the Iranians would essentially have emerged with the upper hand, with the conflict ending before the precise terms are agreed.
Regardless of Washington’s negotiations with Iran, US and Israeli officials told Channel 12 that they did not see the war ending or even pausing in the next two to three weeks, as reaching a deal is expected to take longer.
Iran has denied engaging in talks with the US, and officials familiar with the matter have clarified that what has taken place in recent days has been more of a passing along of messages through mediators.

‘If Iran keeps its uranium, everything was for nothing’: Experts, officials react to Trump's pause
https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/article-891082
A five-day halt in strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, following what President Donald Trump described as “productive” talks, is fueling debate over whether pressure is easing too soon.
In Israel, the announcement was met with uncertainty about what the pause might actually lead to. Israeli lawmaker Ram Ben Barak of Yesh Atid, who served as deputy director of the Mossad and director general of the Intelligence Services and Strategic Affairs ministries, said the real test will be the terms of any agreement that emerges from it.
Speaking to The Media Line, he cautioned that ending the war while Iran still holds enriched uranium and continues to develop its missile program without meaningful limits would be a difficult outcome. “If the war ends with enriched uranium still in Iranian hands and their missile program not limited and supervised, then everything we did was for nothing,” he said. “It would be very, very disappointing.”
Those comments echo a wider concern in Israel that the gains made on the battlefield could be diluted if any agreement stops short of addressing Iran’s core capabilities. Ben Barak made clear he is not opposed to a deal in principle but stressed that its terms will be decisive. “In the end, every war has to end with an agreement; you don’t fight forever,” he said. “But the agreement has to reflect what we achieved up to now, and not give the Iranians something for nothing.”
Iranian source says US initiated ‘outreach’ to end war, as Israel and Tehran continue to trade strikes

• US-Iran contact: An Iranian source told CNN there had been “outreach” between the United States and Tehran and that Iran is willing to listen to “sustainable” proposals to end the war. Other countries are pushing for a diplomatic solution, with Pakistan offering to host talks involving Iran, Israel and the US.
Knesset passes law expanding powers of Israel’s rabbinic courts to arbitrate civil matters
https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-891046
Under the law, rabbinical courts may act as arbitrators only with the consent of all parties.
A law that will expand the power of rabbinic and Sharia courts in Israel and grant them authority to act as arbitrators in limited civil matters was passed in the Knesset plenum in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
The Religious Courts Arbitration Bill, backed by the government, passed with 65 lawmakers in favor and 41 against.
The bill was debated for many hours late into Monday night before it was approved after strong objection from the opposition over claims it could undermine the state’s democratic character and harm women’s rights. Numerous objections were also raised to passing the controversial law during wartime.
It was decided to exclude from the scope of the law arbitration any criminal or administrative matters, as well as proceedings in which the state or a local authority was a party. Matters involving married or formerly married couples were also excluded.
Trump says peace talks progressing as Iran officials deny negotiations
Officials from several governments knowledgeable about the diplomacy, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive negotiations, said the conversations so far were indirect through the mediators. Iran publicly insisted there were no direct or indirect conversations and it was uninterested in having them.
Noting that strikes from both sides are likely to continue “until negotiations can formally begin,” the former official said that “the expectation is to move from a phase of reciprocal military strikes to de-escalation, then to calm, followed by a complete end to the war and ultimately toward negotiations that yield positive and mutually satisfactory outcomes, ensuring that such a conflict does not recur.”

Chances of US-Iran deal 'very small,' Israeli officials tell 'Post'
https://www.jpost.com/middle-east/iran-news/article-891012
The chances of an agreement between the United States and Iran are “very small,” Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.
The gap stems not only from US demands - including restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missiles, and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz - but also from Iranian demands.
“At the moment, the Iranians are insisting on American compensation, as well as guarantees from the administration that there will be no further action against Iran as part of any agreement,” two sources involved in mediation efforts told the Post.
Despite US President Donald Trump’s statements about progress in talks, a source familiar with the details said the deployment of American forces in the Middle East is continuing as usual.
4 people lightly hurt, buildings mangled as Iranian missile attack hits Tel Aviv
An Iranian missile attack lightly injured four people and badly damaged property in Tel Aviv on Tuesday morning after Israeli airstrikes struck multiple Islamic Republic regime sites overnight.
The attack on Tel Aviv was one of several salvos fired from Iran at Israel overnight Monday and into Tuesday morning targeting north, south and central Israel, sending millions repeatedly scrambling for bomb shelters. One person was also lightly wounded in a Haifa suburb.
The attacks came as US President Donald Trump announced his administration was engaged in talks to end the war that the US and Israel launched on the Islamic Republic on February 28 in a bid to destabilize its regime and destroy its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.
Tehran Strikes Tel Aviv Amid Diplomatic Push To End War
At least four people have been injured in central Israel during Iranian strikes overnight, shortly after Tehran contradicted U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement of ongoing talks as "fake news" and dampened hopes a quick end to the war could be in sight. Trump on Monday backed away from his threat to "obliterate" Iran's power plants by the end of the day as he hailed "very good" talks with Iranian officials, instead giving Tehran five days to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz shipping lane.
Mohammed Qalibaf, the influential speaker of Iran's parliament, said "no negotiations have been held" with the U.S., and called Trump's comments "fake news."
How Trump suddenly embraced the idea of talking with Iran
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/23/politics/trump-shift-iran-talks
As President Donald Trump was departing Washington last week for Florida, ending the war with Iran appeared the last thing on his mind.
“You don’t do a ceasefire when you’re literally obliterating the other side,” he said Friday from the White House South Lawn before getting in his helicopter and flying away.
Three days, one ultimatum and — in his telling — a few conversations with amystery official in Tehran later, Trump had adopted a different view.
The change in US posture came after warnings from Gulf allies that the striking civilian power sites in Iran could lead to disastrous escalation, according to people familiar with the conversations. And the announcement of talks, made two hours before the open of US trading on Monday, resulted in a rally on Wall Street and a sharp slide in the price of Brent crude — both areas that had been causing heartburn for Trump and his advisers.
Who, exactly, is doing the talking — or even whether they were talking at all — instantly became a matter of dispute. Trump, who refused to name the Iranian interlocutor his envoys were engaging, provided few details beyond describing the official as “respected.” And even as the president was speaking, additional Marine units were heading toward the Middle East, fueling skepticism about how real the talks are.
Trump’s comments Monday were a departure for the president, who for weeks had shrugged off even the idea of restarting discussions with Tehran, suggesting the regime was neither serious about making the requisite concessions nor its leadership intact enough to act as a reliable negotiating partner.
Trump is folding on Iran as war goals still unmet and regime remains intact
https://www.ynetnews.com/opinions-analysis/article/r1w3c8yjbl
When it comes to the Iranian regime, the very fact that it remains in power constitutes a victory; Even if Trump did not intend to retreat, from the moment he entered the negotiations track, Iran found itself exactly where it wants to be
We have had enough Chamberlains, Donald Trump himself said, mocking Europe’s weak leaders as he did what appeared to be the right thing. Contrary to claims, it was not Israel that persuaded Trump to take on the mission of defeating the head of the axis of evil in the Middle East. It was a decision made by the U.S. president himself. In almost every sense, he is not in Israel’s pocket — and in almost every sense, Israel is in his. Even on the issue of a ceasefire, Israel will do exactly what Trump dictates.
It may be a deception. It may be that Trump needs a few more days to prepare. It may be that he heeded Iranian threats to strike energy facilities across the Gulf and was forced to find a way to ease their concerns about devastation. But there is a fear that once again it will prove true: Iran never wins wars, but it never loses negotiations. It sought to shift the arena — and perhaps it has succeeded. So even if Trump did not intend to retreat, the moment he entered a negotiation track, Iran found itself exactly where it wanted to be.
In their game of chicken, Trump and Iran tap the brakes at last
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/03/23/trump-iran-war-negotiations-hormuz/
But a pause is not a peace, and the real victims are still waiting.
When bargaining about war and peace, the strategist Thomas Schelling wrote, you’re more likely to win concessions “if you get a reputation for being reckless, demanding, or unreliable.”
This game of chicken paused Monday morning, just hours before the expiration of Trump’s ultimatum to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants unless it agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Trump made a surprise announcement that he’d had “very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.” He said he would delay the power plant strikes for five days.
Trump has made similar claims about negotiating breakthroughs before, only to reverse course and attack. He did that in late February, on the eve of this war, and back in June 2025 before the 12-day conflict. But an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman confirmed that messages had been received through “friendly countries” seeking negotiations to end the war
That’s the problem with Trump’s way of war: You can’t bluff your way to a decisive victory. After Iran closed the strait, it became increasingly clear that Tehran had a potentially ruinous squeeze on the global economy. Trump has a high risk tolerance, until he reaches an unacceptable pain threshold.
Trump is ‘lying’ about talks with Iranians
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5797061-trump-iran-war-crime/
Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) said Monday that President Trump is “lying” about holding talks with Iranian officials.
“We know he’s lying when he says that the Iranians are talking with us and they’re about to give Donald Trump everything he wants. Yes, that’s a lie,” Van Hollen told host Kasie Hunt on CNN’s “The Arena.”
Trump drops Iran ultimatum after realizing he had nothing to gain
There is no reason to get excited about Trump's decision to withdraw his ultimatum and not bomb Iran's power grid. Such a move would have run counter to US interests and to the war's objectives. The president, it appears, realized belatedly that it was better to climb down than to create an unnecessary crisis.
To understand what happened, one must go back to last week. At Trump's request, Israel struck an Iranian gas production facility. It was an attempt to test Iran's response and determine whether such a blow would deter what remains of the regime. At the same time, in order not to embarrass the US if the move failed, it was agreed that the Israeli Air Force would carry out the operation while Trump would pretend he knew nothing about it.
Trump and Iran Send Conflicting Signals on Talks
Iran’s Foreign Ministry denied Tehran was in talks with the U.S., according to state media, but acknowledged countries in the region were trying to get diplomacy going. Arab officials said they have been talking separately with both sides, but that Iran has set a high bar for ending hostilities.
Fighting in the Middle East continued, with Israel saying it was striking Hezbollah targets in Beirut, while Kuwait and Saudi Arabia said they were targeted by missile and drone attacks.

Golden Calf was a reboot of Mankind by G-d to its Original Status
Malbim (Shemos 32:34) There is a proper explanation for the sin of the golden calf based on medrash and why G-d allowed the events to go to completion and did not immediately tell Moshe to go down from Sinai to stop it. In particular He allowed |Satan to be successful even though when they accepted the Torah by saying Naseh v’nishma they no longer had a yetzer harah to sin. In fact they were not able to sin because they had become like the angels who also lack a yetzer harah and in addition they were also immortal as the angel of death no longer had any power over them. Howver this elevated state was not consistent with G-d’s plan in creating man. Man ha been created with a yetzer harah to seduce him to sin and to constantly defeat it after a struggle. Thus the reason G-d did not interfere with the sin of the golden calf is that it returned him to his original state of having a yetzer harah and therefore the Jews had the free will to do good and avoid sin and they would once again receive reward for their behavior, This also explains why they were not punished for the sin of the goldern calf as long as they succeeded in fighting the yetzer harah in the future. Thus in fact the golden calf was desirable if they were successful in fighting the yetzer harah>If they would be unsuccessful then it would obviously then be detrimental. Therefore in such a case when the account was made of their sins this would be included as one of their sins.
What Donald Trump Gains From His Temporary TACO
https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-iran-war-strikes-energy-11720662
President Donald Trump has delayed for five days threatened strikes on Iranian energy targets, saying the pause would allow time for what he described as productive background talks.
Trump had originally threatened strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure unless the Strait of Hormuz was reopened within 48 hours.
It looks to his critics like a temporary TACO (the now infamous acronym for "Trump Always Chickens Out"); the Iranians have denied that discussions are taking place.
But the move also buys Trump some crucial time in a spiraling conflict.
Whether it's TACO or tactical, here's what Trump stands to gain:
Signs emerge Trump ready to end Iran war as pressure mounts over Hormuz
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5797035-trump-administration-iran-war/
Early signs emerged Monday that the Trump administration is signaling it wants to wind down the war with Iran, as pressure from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz tightens its grip on the global economy.
But conflicting accounts over whether any talks are taking place between the U.S. and Iran to reach any kind of deal to end the fighting continued to pour out of Washington and Tehran.
Monday’s announcement marks an abrupt about-face from Trump’s threat on Saturday to “obliterate” Iran’s nuclear facilities unless they reopened the Strait of Hormuz.
Still, public opinion has not been on Trump’s side for the duration of the conflict. A CBS News poll released Sunday found 57 percent of surveyed Americans believed the conflict with Iran was going “very or somewhat badly” for the U.S., while 43 percent said it is going “very or somewhat well.
The same poll found that 92 percent of respondents said it was important for the U.S. to “end the conflict as quickly as possible.”

Tehran residents dismiss prospects of genuine US-Iran diplomacy
https://www.israelhayom.com/2026/03/23/tehran-residents-trump-iran-diplomacy-skepticism/
Following US President Donald Trump's announcement Monday of "constructive" conversations between the US and Iran that could lead to a deal ending the conflict, and a five-day halt of American strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, residents of Tehran expressed skepticism about whether any negotiations would genuinely benefit the Iranian people – particularly against the backdrop of Iran's denial that such talks have taken place at all.
The president's dramatic announcement prompted a response from Iranian officials. Spokesperson of the Iranian Parliament's National Security Committee, Ibrahim Rezaei, said, "Trump and the US have backed down again. The campaign continues to gallop," adding this decision marks "Another defeat for the Satan" – referring to the US.
According to Fars News Agency (Iran's state-run news agency), an Iranian source claimed that "There was no direct or indirect communication with Trump – he backed down after hearing that our targets would be every power station in the Middle East."

"They went, I would say, perfectly. I would say that if they carry through with that, it'll end that problem, that conflict."

MAHA’s political power tested as surgeon general pick stalls
Casey Means faces pushback from some Republicans over her refusal to forcefully recommend vaccines.
The nascent Make America Healthy Again movement got one of its biggest wins last spring: Casey Means was selected to be the nation’s top doctor.

Her nomination has stalled as some Republicans question her stance on vaccines, her medical credentials and her pushes against the medical establishment.
While she honed her message on the importance of healthy food — talking points that Kennedy has tried to amp up as the midterms approach — she is getting tangled in his prior controversial stances on vaccines and other aspects of the MAHA movement, which has tried to galvanize supporters to call on reticent senators.

Don’t blame Trump’s stupid war on Israel
https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/03/23/dont-blame-trumps-stupid-war-israel/
When a nation starts a war for dubious reasons and then suffers the consequences, there is inevitably a search for scapegoats. Conspiracy theories abound. It happened after World War I, when the favorite villains were “merchants of death” and international bankers. It happened again after the Iraq War, which some blamed on “neoconservatives” and Halliburton, the oil-services giant led by Dick Cheney before he became vice president.
It’s now happening with President Donald Trump’s foolhardy war against Iran. Operation Epic Fury may yet produce some positive results, but for now, it has gone spectacularly awry. Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz and targeted energy infrastructure across the region, causing oil prices to skyrocket and instability to spread. As so often happens, the Jews — or, if you prefer a polite euphemism, “Zionists” or “the Israel lobby” — make a handy fall guy.

Half Shekel was Atonement for Sin of Golden Calf
Or HaChaim (Shemos 30:13) The alienation between Israel and its G'd resulted from the episode of the golden calf which affected the roots of all the Jewish souls. G'd therefore commanded that the people give a "half-shekel" to symbolise that their previous action had resulted in something whole having become divided. The contribution of this half-shekel was to repair the damage done to the whole through the people's participation in the sin of the golden calf. Every mitzva is meant to close a gap that may exist between man and G'd.
Moshe's defense of the making of the Golden Calf
Ramban (Shemos 32:11) ETERNAL, WHY DOTH THY WRATH WAX HOT AGAINST THY PEOPLE? Now when Moses prayed about this great sin, it would have been fitting that he do so by way of confession and supplication, similar to what he said later on, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and just as Ezra prayed and confessed because of the faithlessness of them of the captivity, and there is no reason why he should say, why doth the Eternal etc.? Our Rabbis, prompted by this difficulty have in various homiletic ways tried to mention several reasons for Moses’ minimizing the sin before Him.
Yalkut Shimoni (795) Moshe told G-d that the Golden Calf was a good thing and that it would assist Him. G-d asked how it would assist? Moshe answered “When You make it rain it will produce dew. When you make storms it will make lightning.”G-ds replied Moshe you also are mistaken about the Golden Calf . Moshe replied “If so why are You angry with Your people and say that they have sinned a great sin?” This can be compared to a king who was angry with his wife and sent her from his house. Her defender questioned the king for what he did and also asked his wife why she was upsetting the king
Devarim Rabbah (01:02) When Israel made the Golden Calf, G-d desired to destroy them, whereupon Moses said to Him: ‘Master of the Universe! This Calf will be of great help to Thee.’ God then asked him, ‘How can it help Me?’ Thereupon Moses replied: ‘Thou causest rain to fall, the Calf will produce dew; Thou bringest out the winds, the Calf will bring out lightnings.’ Said God to Moses: ' So you also are going astray after the Calf! ' Whereupon Moses exclaimed before God: ' Then," Why doth Thy wrath wax hot against Thy people" seeing that the Calf is nought?’ To Israel, however, he said: ' Ye have sinned a great sin.’
Bamidbar Rabbah (02:15) Moses’ plea: Lord, why doth Thy wrath wax hot against Thy people, etc. . Moses suggested: ‘This calf which Israel have made can now be of assistance to Thee.’ He can send down rain while Thou wilt produce the dew! ‘‘But,’ replied the Holy One, blessed be He, ‘is there any such hope from him?’ ‘Then,’ came Moses’ retort, ‘if there is no substance in him, why art Thou wroth? ' ‘Lord, why doth Thy wrath wax hot against Thy people... wherefore should the Egyptians speak... For evil did He bring them forth... Remember Abraham,’ etc. (ib.11 ff.). What follows in the text? And the Lord repented of the evil which He said He would do unto His people (ib. 14). ‘His people.’ Thus has been explained the text, ‘And it shall come to pass that, instead of that which was said to them,’ etc.
Berachos (32a) Moses spoke insolently towards heaven The school of R. Jannai learnt it from here: And Di-Zahab. What is ‘ And Di-Zahab’? They said in the school of R. Jannai: Thus spoke Moses before the Holy One, blessed be He: Sovereign of the Universe, the silver and gold which Thou didst shower on Israel until they said, Enough, that it was which led to their making the Calf.
Shemos Rabbah (43:10) When Israel made the Golden Calf, God intended to destroy them, but Moses pleaded: ' Lord of the Universe! Didst Thou not bring them forth from Egypt, a place of idol-worshippers?
Golden Calf changed the Way Torah was Given
Sforno (Shemos 24:12) “which I (the Lord) have written.” If it had not been for the sin of the golden calf, the entire Torah would have been handed to the Jewish people (Moses) as a signed and sealed document just like the Tablets with the Ten Commandments. Instead, Moses wrote down the Torah at G’d’s command. In fact, Moses only brought the Tablets to within sight of the people in order to smash them before their eyes, so that they would understand what they had forfeited due to their disloyalty to G’d. This demonstration of Moses having smashed the Tablets was designed to shock the people into penitence.
Bessent responds to Trump’s post about Mueller’s death - Trump is a vile human being because he is a victim
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5795894-bessent-trump-empathy-plea/
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday said people need to give President Trump more empathy after Trump posted that he was “glad” former FBI Director Robert Mueller was dead.
“I think that given what has been done to President Trump and his family it is impossible for either of us to understand what he has been through,” Bessent said during a Sunday appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
“I was with the president in the green room at Davos and there was a video playing of what may have been an illegal raid on his home at Mar-a-Lago. They are going through his wife’s wardrobe,” Bessent told moderator Kristen Welker on Sunday.
Arson attack on London volunteer ambulances being treated as antisemitic hate crime, police say
Four ambulances belonging to the Jewish community ambulance service have been set on fire in Golders Green, with police saying they were treating the incident as an “antisemitic hate crime”.
Officers were called to Highfield Road in Golders Green at about 1.45am on Monday after receiving reports of a fire.
The Metropolitan police confirmed the incident in north London was being treated as an antisemitic hate crime.
The ambulances were run by Jewish charity Hatzola, which was established in 1979 and is run by volunteers, providing free medica
RFK Jr. is a 'big fan' of this treatment and plans to widen access
Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is poised to declare victory on widening access to one of the country’s biggest wellness fads: peptides, the building blocks of proteins that biohackers claim help quickly heal injuries and promote muscle growth and fat loss.
Kennedy’s supporters in the Make America Healthy Again Movement, which include social media influencers selling popular peptide treatments, and his pharmacist allies have applauded his remarks and say they expect bold action from him any day now.
Yet some pharmacists and doctors warn that any move by the FDA to loosen current regulations around peptides could pose serious health risks because of the lack of scientific data to support many of them.
“We’re about to unleash one of the biggest medical experiments in the history of America onto Americans as the test subjects,” Alec Ginsberg, chief operating officer at C.O. Bigelow, the country’s oldest pharmacy, said, referring to the lack of clinical data on peptide use.
Trump’s shifting Strait of Hormuz strategies raise questions about US war preparation
After failing to assemble coalition to secure critical oil shipping route, president has resorted to a threat to hit Iran’s power plants that critics warn is illegal, may backfire
“Trump has no plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, so he is threatening to attack Iran’s civil power plants,” said Democratic Senator Ed Markey, adding: “This would be a war crime.”

Trump and Netanyahu embraced an optimistic strategy of assassinations and covert efforts to trigger unrest, but intelligence officials say fear of Iran’s security forces has so far prevented mass protests or a broader revolt
Watching Trump’s Monday Deadline for Iran
President Trump’s threat to “obliterate” Iranian power plants set off a cascade of alarm bells around the region with Tehran saying it would respond in kind. Oil-exporting Gulf countries said Iranian reprisals could further endanger the world economy.
Trump made his threat in a social-media post late Saturday, saying that if Iran doesn’t fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which carries a fifth of the world’s oil supply, within 48 hours the U.S. would act. Iran contended that the U.S. threat raised issues under international law against targeting civilian infrastructure.
Meantime, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations warned on Sunday about Iran's potential to launch longer-range ballistic missiles that could hit much of Europe. It comes days after Iran carried out one of its farthest missile launches on record, targeting Diego Garcia, a joint U.S.-U.K. military base in the Indian Ocean.
Jeffries tells Trump to keep his 'reckless mouth shut' after president calls Democratic Party 'greatest enemy'
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-NY, rebuked President Donald Trump on Sunday and said he should keep his "reckless mouth shut" after the president called Democrats the "greatest enemy" in America.
"Now with the death of Iran, the greatest enemy America has is the Radical Left, Highly Incompetent, Democratic Party! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT," the president wrote on Truth Social.

Iran threatens to hit power plants in Israel, Gulf if its electricity sector is targeted

Iran will retaliate to an attack on its electricity sector by targeting Israel’s power plants as well as power plants supplying US bases with electricity in regional countries, a statement by the Revolutionary Guards says.
The statement seemingly retracts earlier threats to desalination plants in the region, which are crucial for providing drinking water in Gulf countries.

Democrats seek information on Jared Kushner’s potential ‘conflicts of interest’ in Middle East
https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5792597-kushner-business-middle-east-democrats/
Two top-ranking Democrats are seeking more information regarding Jared Kushner’s business dealings in the Middle East following reports that he has been attempting to shore up billions of dollars for his private equity firm while also helping lead negotiations with governments in the region.
Rep. Robert Garcia (R-Calif.) and Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) wrote in a letter to the White House on Thursday that they had “serious concerns” about whether Kushner, President Trump’s son in law, was being allowed to leverage his political influence for personal financial gain.
Their inquiry comes days after The New York Times reported that Kushner had recently spoken with potential foreign investors about raising $5 billion for his investment firm, Affinity Partners, citing five people with knowledge of the discussions.
The scrutiny is not new for the firm or Kushner, who previously faced accusations of an improper quid pro quo after the Saudi government, led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, invested $2 billion in the company shortly after Trump left office in 2021.
Trump has consistently brushed off allegations of conflicts of interest related to his family’s business dealings, signaling before retaking office that he had no plans to divest from his companies, including Truth Social, or stop his family from engaging in overseas activities.
“I prohibited them from doing business in my first term, and I got absolutely no credit for it,” he told the Times in January. “I didn’t have to do that. And it’s really unfair to them.”
“I found out that nobody cared, and I’m allowed to.”

The postal worker had reportedly been screaming at nearby children before the victim approached him.
The Tanker War: How history is repeating itself on the Strait of Hormuz
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/22/middleeast/iran-war-history-tanker-wars-intl-hnk-ml
As President Donald Trump looks at ordering US Navy ships to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz, for naval analysts and historians, there’s a distinct feeling of “been there, done that.”
Almost 40 years ago, US Navy warships were facing the same enemy they’d be facing now, the navy and the sea forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
The so-called Tanker War of the late 1980s saw some of the same weapons and problems a US escort force would face today, and provides lessons on how, in war, things can go wrong quickly in unexpected ways – with deadly consequences.
It’s the oil prices, stupid: The West’s principles collapse when prices rise
https://www.jpost.com/opinion/article-890392
Because as soon as oil prices began to spike, sending energy markets into panic, raising the cost of living, and threatening already shaky economies, the tone began to shift. Subtly at first. Then more openly. Calls for “restraint.” Appeals for “de-escalation.” Thinly veiled criticisms of the very operation that, days earlier, had been quietly endorsed or at least understood.
This is the uncomfortable truth that the past weeks have exposed. For all the lofty rhetoric about human rights, democracy, and standing up to evil, the West’s moral compass appears to be calibrated, above all, by the price per barrel.
Of course, governments must consider economic consequences. No responsible leader can ignore the impact of rising fuel costs on ordinary citizens. But there is a difference, an enormous, consequential difference, between weighing economic factors and allowing them to dictate one’s entire moral posture.
What we are witnessing now is the latter. It is the quiet recalibration of principles in the face of economic discomfort. It is the willingness to tolerate, excuse, or even indirectly empower a regime like Iran because confronting it has become inconvenient.
IDF strikes Tehran after Iranian missile barrages wound almost 200 in southern Israel

At least 84 wounded in Arad, at least 78 wounded across Dimona after Iranian missile barrages • Mojtaba Khamenei "alive, but IRGC currently running Iran" • Trump threatens strikes if Hormuz not open
Over 100 injured, 11 seriously, in Iranian missile strikes on southern cities of Arad, Dimona
Over 100 people were injured by Iranian strikes in the southern cities of Dimona and Arad on Saturday, 11 of them seriously, medics said, after Israeli air defenses failed to intercept at least two ballistic missiles.
Iranian state media said the strikes were targeting Israel’s nuclear research facility, located some 10 kilometers (six miles) outside of Dimona and 30 kilometers (18.5 miles) outside of Arad, in retaliation for an alleged US attack on Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment facility earlier in the day. Iran blamed that attack on the US and Israel, though the IDF denied any involvement.
The military said the Israeli Air Force was investigating the failure to intercept both ballistic missiles. It confirmed air defenses had engaged both projectiles, but the interceptors failed to knock them down.
Robert Mueller, who probed Russia’s 2016 election meddling, dies; Trump: ‘Good, I’m glad’
Robert Mueller, the no-nonsense former FBI chief who documented Russia’s interference in the 2016 US election and its contacts with Donald Trump’s campaign but opted not to bring criminal charges against a sitting president, has died at age 81, multiple news outlets reported on Saturday.
Mueller retired after 12 years as Federal Bureau of Investigation director in 2013 but was summoned back to public service by a senior Justice Department official four years later as a special counsel to take over an inquiry into Russia’s election meddling after Trump fired then-FBI chief James Comey.
Trump on Saturday celebrated Mueller’s passing. “Good, I’m glad he’s dead,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social site. “He can no longer hurt innocent people!”
“Based on Justice Department policy and principles of fairness, we decided we would not make a determination as to whether the president committed a crime,” Mueller told lawmakers.
“The president was not exculpated for the acts that he allegedly committed,” Mueller added.
88 injured in missile strike on Arad

An Iranian missile bearing a heavy warhead on Saturday night directly hit a building where Gur hasidim live in the southern city of Arad, after the IAF failed to intercept it.
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that 88 people injured at the scene, suffering varying degrees of injury.
Later, the IDF confirmed that an Iranian missile weighing 450 kilograms hit Arad directly after two attempts to intercept it failed.
According to Haaretz, analysis of one of the videos from the scene shows that the missile impacted approximately nine seconds after the siren sounded.

Robert Mueller, ex-FBI director at center of political tempest, dies at 81
https://www.washingtonpost.com/obituaries/2026/03/21/robert-mueller-dead/
Robert S. Mueller III, a career prosecutor who became a central figure in two searing national traumas, first as FBI director in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and later as special counsel investigating ties between President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia, died Friday. He was 81.
During more than four decades in law enforcement — as line prosecutor, U.S. attorney and FBI chief — Mr. Mueller developed a reputation as a stickler for detail who savored methodical investigation and nearly always got his man. Some colleagues privately spoke of the decorated Marine veteran as “Bobby Three Sticks,” referring to his patrician pedigree and the three-fingered Boy Scout salute.
At the FBI, in an era of increasingly partisan national division, he built a reputation for nonpartisan rectitude and stone-faced reserve, frustrating speechwriters by crossing out every “I” they wrote into his prepared remarks. It wasn’t about him, he told them: “It’s about the organization.”
President is a mere Puppet for G-d?
Vayikra (04:22) When a ruler has sinned, and done
something through ignorance against any of the commandments of the Lord his God

Berachos (55a) There are three things for which one
should supplicate: a good king, a good year, and a good dream. A good king,

A good year, as it is written: The eyes of the Lord thy God are always upon
it, from the beginning of the year even unto the end of the year.A good dream,
as it is written; Wherefore cause Thou me to dream and make me to live.
Meshech Chochma (Devarim 17:15): … The Ralbag notes

had free will to harm him.
Pentagon press policy ruled unconstitutional in case brought by N.Y. Times
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2026/03/20/pentagon-press-policy-unconstitutional-nyt/
A federal judge in Washington, D.C., struck down the Defense Department’s controversial press policy as unconstitutional Friday, ruling in favor of the New York Times and one of its reporters, Julian E. Barnes.
The policy, introduced in October, stated that the Pentagon could revoke credentials for any journalist who solicits information the department has not authorized for release — even if that information was unclassified. The policy led to a mass exodus of journalists from dozens of news organizations who refused to sign, including the Times and The Washington Post. Only a handful of the hundreds of formerly credentialed members of the media signed the updated agreement.
Iran Believes It’s Winning—and Wants a Steep Price to End the War
Three weeks into the war, the Iranian regime is signaling that it believes it is winning and has the power to impose a settlement on Washington that entrenches Tehran’s dominance of Middle East energy resources for decades to come.
This attitude may prove to be a dangerous misreading of President Trump’s determination, or of Israel’s capacity to inflict strategic blows on the Islamic Republic’s surviving leadership and military capabilities.
Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have given mixed signals on how long the war would go on, as they try to talk markets down and keep Tehran guessing. Netanyahu said Thursday that the war would end “a lot faster than people think.” Trump said this week the U.S. would wrap up the conflict in the “near future” even as the Pentagon dispatched thousands of additional Marines to the Middle East.
Hegseth has repeatedly said the US is upping the frequency of its Iran strikes. The data tells a different story
https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/20/politics/us-strikes-iran-frequency-data
While Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has repeatedly stated that the number and intensity of the strikes the US is carrying out against Iran is only increasing, data provided by the US military shows a pace of operations that has ebbed and flowed over the last three weeks.
As Hegseth has gone to the podium alongside Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine in a series of press conferences, he has repeatedly asserted that the coming day would bring the most US strikes on Iran yet.
Starting on March 4, his second briefing on the war which began on February 28, Hegseth said “more and larger waves” of strikes were coming, and that the Defense Department was “accelerating, not decelerating.”
But data released publicly by US Central Command has not shown that the number of strikes has increased daily the way Hegseth has indicated, which could partly be due to the need to adjust the frequency of flights as aircraft and ships receive maintenance while operations continue, or because the military started with a set target list and is now working to identify and confirm new targets.

As Iran war diverts attention from Gaza, Hamas police openly tighten grip on Strip
A few days ago, police working under Hamas who were patrolling a market in Gaza City came upon a vendor who was selling tomatoes for the wildly inflated price of NIS 25 per kilogram, or about $3.60 a pound.
The officers seized the produce, citing a law against price gouging meant to protect Gazans amid a reduction in goods entering the Strip since the outbreak of the war in Iran on February 28, according to Anas Arafat, a Gaza City resident who witnessed the incident.
With attention in Israel and the region largely on the war in Iran and fighting in Lebanon, Hamas security forces in Gaza have stepped up their visibility in Gaza over the last two weeks, according to locals who spoke with The Times of Israel and corroborated by footage circulating in the enclave.
Alongside Hamas’s increased presence have also been reports of rising violence against Gazans, as the terror group ostensibly holding the enclave seeks to reassert power.
GOP grapples with $200B Iran funding request from Trump, Hegseth
https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5791945-pentagon-funding-iran-war-supplemental-republicans/
Republicans are grappling with how to handle an expected $200 billion request for supplemental funding for the war in Iran, weighing their desire to support the president with demands from fiscal hawks, questions about the scope of the funding and the challenge of a super-slim majority in the House.
Democrats are not expected to support such a Pentagon funding boost for a war they oppose, leading Republicans to eye fulfilling the request through the special budget reconciliation process, which bypasses the need for Democratic support to clear the 60-vote threshold in the Senate.
Adding $200 billion more to the military’s budget would represent a major expenditure of federal dollars, considering the entire military budget for fiscal 2026 was $1 trillion. The White House Office of Management and Budget still must make a formal request to Congress, meaning the figure could be reduced.
