Republican Senator Lindsey Graham criticizes Israel for declining to sell Ukraine weapons to fend off the ongoing Russian invasion.
“They asked Israel — no bigger fan of Israel than Lindsey Graham — for stinger [missiles], and apparently Israel said no. So I’ll get on the phone to Israel. You know, we stand up for Israel with the Iron Dome,” Graham tells Fox News, suggesting that the US expects better from its longstanding ally.
“Putin is a thug. He’s a war criminal. He’s destroying a sovereign nation called Ukraine. And if we don’t get Ukraine and Russia right, the Chinese are going to move on Taiwan and the Iranians gonna break out toward a bomb. So it’s in everybody’s interest” for Ukraine to be able to defend itself, Graham argues.
Most people don't realize the delicate game Israel is playing with Russia in Syria over Iran. Without understanding that it does look like Israel is being cold and not supporting Ukraine.
ReplyDeleteIsrael would be very stupid if it were to provide or sell weapons to Ukraine, in a hot war situation with Russia.
ReplyDeleteRussia could then turn Israel into an enemy state, and start making all sorts of threats.
Israel has an existential threat from Iran, and NATO's push eastwards has also pushed Russia closer to Iran. Israel has a deconfliction agreement with Russia over Syrian airpsace. If they provide missiles to Ukrain which shoot down russian planes, guess what would happen in Syria? The russians would either shoot down Israeli planes, or provide their most advanced anti aircraft weapons to Syria and Iran.
Israelis not part of NATO, and has no interest in Ukraine, other than chassidim going to Uman where there is a huge drugs and prositution racket centred on the business from new orthodox clients.
