Is he trashing the Constitution any worse than the Supreme Court ruling the Constitution guarantees the right of two men to marry?
The answer is: no.
We are in a post-moral era. This blog iis trying to maintain the fiction that Donald Trump is immoral but otherwise things are more or less ok in American politics.
The reality is that immorality is entrenched throughout all branches of the U.S. government. Not every government employee is immoral but rather the system itself is immoral. How did we get to the point where transgender soldiers can serve in the U.S. military?
Well, since I like this blog, and visit regularly, please explain to me in simple terms what I'm supposed to gain from knowing that Donald Trump promotes the idea that he won the election.
Donald Trump is challenging the election results. The freedom to do that is a feature of the U.S. democracy, not a flaw.
Donald Trump is exercising the First Amendment as he continues to claim he won. That's a feature of the U.S. democracy, not a flaw.
It's those who would ignore the Constitution, Rule of Law, and every safeguard built into U.S. democracy to shut down Donald Trump that are the real threat to the form of government in America.
Donald Trump carrying on is a sign of strength of the political system.
I guess my total and complete failure to understand how Donald Trump speaking his mind undermines democracy underlies my abject failure to get the message from videos that claim Donald Trump is a threat.
“Trump holds campaign-style rallies” Sorry not reading your CNN posts. Bravo what Joseph Orlow writes. Caroline Glick writes in Newsweek that Mandelbit fears Netanyahu will hurt rule of law and democracy in Israel. This is behind Mandelbit's fake/phony indictments.
Back to this week’s parsha ויחי. Coups, rebellion and attempt overthrow of the government every where all the time.
My theory is that Joseph and his brothers staged a fake news show in this week's parsha ויחי “His brothers went to him themselves, flung themselves before him. and said: We are prepared to be your slaves. But Joseph said to them: Have no fear! Am I a substitute for God? Besides, although you intended me harm, God intended it for good, so as to bring about the present result---the survival of many people.” (Genesis 50:18-20).
Even King David faced a coup attempt: (1 Kings 1:5-11): 5Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying: ‘I will be king’; and he prepared him chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him. 6And his father had not grieved him all his life in saying: ‘Why hast thou done so?’ and he was also a very goodly man; and he was born after Absalom. 7And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah, and with Abiathar the priest; and they following Adonijah helped him. 8But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the mighty men that belonged to David, were not with Adonijah. 9And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fatlings by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En-rogel; and he called all his brethren the king’s sons, and all the men of Judah the king’s servants; 10but Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah, and the mighty men, and Solomon his brother, he called not. 11Then Nathan spoke unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon, saying: ‘Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign, and David our lord knoweth it not?
Did Biden/Harris do a coup on Trump? Did Bennet/Mandelbit do a coup on Netanyahu? We pray for return of King David speedily in our time.
More on parsha ויחי “So they sent this message to Joseph, Before his death your father left this instruction: So shall you say to Joseph: Forgive, I urge you the offense and guilt of your brothers who treated you so harshly. Therefore, please forgive the offense of the servants of the God of your father. And Joseph was in tears as they spoke to him” (Genesis 50:16-17). Yoma 87a “R. Jose b. Hanina said: One who asks pardon of his neighbor need do so no more than three times, as it is said: Forgive. I pray thee now . . . and now we pray thee [Gen. L, 17. The brethren, in their appeal to Joseph to forgive the wrong they had done to him, use the term na (O, pray) three times.]. And if he [against whom he had sinned] had died, he should bring ten persons and make them stand by his grave and say: I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel, and against this one, whom I have hurt.”
My theory. With Jacob alive the 10 brothers who sold Joseph for 20 shekels felt safe from any harm. With Jacob dead, the 10 brothers feared punishment from Heaven. Both Joseph and the brothers cried seeking Heaven’s forgiveness much as the כהן הגדול pleads on Yom Kippur for G-d’s forgiveness and that all should be well for the people.

ReplyDeleteTrump continues with his lies and fake claims and worse in his attack on democracy
Do you always ask nonsense questions when you lack supporting facts?
ReplyDeleteYes asking Georgia officials to find him more votes or admit falsely to fraud is definitely supported by constitution?!

Yes, and asking Georgia officials to check a voter's ID is apparently blatant racism. Go figure.
