(ד) בעבור תברכך נפשי בטרם אמות.
עיין במלבי"ם כאן שביאר בטוב טעם שכוונת יצחק בזה היתה לעשות מעין שותפות יששכר וזבולון בין יעקב ועשו, והינו שיעקב יקדיש את חייו לעבודת ה' ועשו ימציא לו מזונו, ועיי"ש32.
ועוד נראה בביאור ענין זה שרצה יצחק שהברכות יהיו לעשו, דהנה סוד הברכות שנתברכו בו האבות בעולם הזה - במעין עולם הבא - הוא משום שחייהם היו חיי קדוש השם והמלכת הבורא גם בארץ, וכמו שהביא רש"י [לעיל כ"ד פ"ז] בשם רז"ל וז"ל: עכשיו הוא אלקי השמים ואלקי הארץ שהרגלתיו בפי הבריות אבל כשלקחני מבית אבי היה אלקי השמים ולא אלקי הארץ שלא היו באי עולם מכירים בו ושמו לא היה רגיל בארץ עכ"ל. ולפיכך יצחק אבינו, בראותו כי יעקב איש תם יושב אהלים חשב כי הנהו כולו לד' ולא בזה בחר ה', כי לא למלאכים ניתנה התורה, וכן ארץ ישראל שנבחרה למדינה שעל ידי עבודתה יקיימו חלקים חשובים שבתורה כחיי עם שכולו עובד ד', ולא בזה חלק יעקב שאין לו הכשרה להיות עוסק בישובו של עולם, ולפיכך בחר לברך את עשו ולמסור לו טל השמים ומשמני הארץ33, כי משם תצא תורה ואורה לעולם כולו וליושביו, אבל מכיון שזכה בברכת משמני הארץ34 נתן לו כבר ברכת אברהם כי הוא כבר המושל בארץ, ודו"ק

“Why did Yitzchok... ” My theory. No, that Isaac wanted Issachar-Zebulun agreement for Esau-Jacob.
ReplyDeleteNo. Isaac didn’t realize, and Rebekah did, that Esau was in a culture war v Jacob. Esau was so excellent in his virtue signaling and his talk with Isaac that Isaac never saw through him the rotten scoundrel fraud Esau always was. Rebekah was on a higher level of prophecy than Isaac as was Sarah v Abraham. Rebekah had good woman’s intuition and Binah better than Isaac. Backlash = a strong negative reaction by a large number of people, especially to a social or political development. "a public backlash against racism"
Rebekah nursed a private backlash against Esau due to Esau’s sleezy stunts he pulled on Isaac.

ויאהב יצחק. אם מפני שחשב שהוא הבכור והוא הראוי לירש המתנות האלהות והוא לא שמע שרב יעבד צעיר, ואם מפני כי ציד בפיו, שהיה מדבר תמיד מגבורותיו בציד, וגם שהיה מרמה אותו בפיו ופושט טלפיו כחזיר, או כחז"ל שהיה מביא לו מן הציד וחשב שמקיים מצות כבוד, כן כתב הרי"א, ורבקה ידעה שרב יעבד צעיר, והכירה יותר את מעשי הנערים, לכן היתה אוהבת את יעקב:
“Now Isaac loved Esau, because he had a taste for game (lit. game was in his mouth) כי ציד בפיו; and Rebekah loved Jacob.” (Genesis 25:28).

Torah thought parsha ויצא “And Laban said: Very well, let it be as you say הן לו יהי כדברך. And he removed that day the he-goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the dark ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons. And he set three days’ journey betwixt himself and Jacob. And Jacob fed the rest of Laban’s flocks ויעקב רעה את צאן לבן הנותרת.” (Genesis 30:34-36)
ReplyDeleteMy theory. They told Jacob about Jacob holding to the heel of Esau at birth as if to keep Esau from being first. Jacob didn’t remember holding on to the heel of Esau. Jacob took to heart that God will do everything between him and Esau. He, Jacob, could learn Torah. Jacob was not aware that Esau was wicked. Esau did virtue signaling and fraud that he, Esau, was righteous. Jacob wanted to do the sacrifices and persuaded Esau to sell his birthright for a soup of lentils. Jacob told Esau death in the hands of heaven for sins of sacrifices. Jacob had no know how to fight wicked and no knowledge about fake news media. Jacob thought Esau and Laban righteous fellows. Jacob and Laban discussed Torah for 20 years, while Jacob watching Laban’s pure white goats and sheep.
God promises to watch over Jacob. Jacob doesn’t have to fight the bad guys. God will do that if Jacob studies Torah.
In parsha ויצא long speeches Jacob to Laban and Laban to Jacob. Jacob was not aware that Laban was rotten scoundrel fraud. Seems Jacob was genuinely surprised that Laban pursued him. Jacob seems surprised to see angels at beginning and at end of parsha. “Jacob awoke from his sleep and said: Surely the Lord is present in this place, and I did not know it.” (Genesis 28:16). “Jacob went on his way, and angels of God encountered him ויפגעו בו מלאכי אלקים. When he saw them, Jacob said, This is God’s camp. So he named that place Mahanaim.” (Ibid. 32:2-3).
The Matriarchs were on a higher level of prophecy that the Patriarchs. Sarah knew Ishmael was evil: Abraham not. Rebekah knew Esau was evil: Isaac not. Rachel knew Laban was evil: Jacob not.
Can we talk of the parsha and current events in light of the parsha, KA, Garnel, IsraelReader? The Left in the USA controls Biden/Harris sees itself in a fierce cultural war versus America. Ishmael, Esau, and Laban saw themselves in a fierce cultural war with the Jews.
