The rules of Rodef, however, apply even in the absence of a Sanhedrin (Rambam Hilchot Rotze’ach 1:6-13 and Shulchan Aruch Choshen Mishpat 425). In fact, the Rama applies the Halacha of Rodef to one who engages in forgeries. Government authorities in the past imposed severe collective punishments (including executions) upon the Jewish communities in which a Jewish forger resided. Thus, the forger endangers the community and is treated with the severity of a Rodef.
Rabin’s assassin had no Halachic basis to shoot Prime Minister Rabin. Professor Schochetman notes that the shooting caused grave damage to the opposition to the Oslo process. Moreover, it caused a profound Chillul Hashem whose impact we experience even nine years after the shooting. Professor Schochetman (paraphrasing Teshuvot Chavot Yair 138) correctly describes the shooting of Yitzchak Rabin as "an foreign, evil, and bitter act." It is foreign to the Jewish people, it has no Halachic basis, it is morally reprehensible, and it has had bitter ramifications for Israeli society.
Nobody supports the shooting of Rabin. Netanyahu said we change governments by ballots and not bullets. In any case, Rabin was a political disaster, and his assassination /murder only strengthed the left and oslo

ReplyDeleteFor our blogmaster, this is quite relevant. Let's say the 2020 election was indeed stolen and there is a giant conspiracy theory covering it up. The task for Republicans isn't to try and expend energy to expose it. The folks who created the conspiracy will have already anticipated that and moved to frustrate them. The task for Republicans is to prep for 2022 and regain their losses.
Same with Rabin. He was shot. Whether it was a lone gunman, or a setup with an actual Mossad agent pulling the trigger, it's the response - preventing Rabin's people from using it to push through the Oslo disaster - was what mattered.
the theory is that Rabin was disillusioned, and he was also unpopular. They wanted to do a spoof assassination attempt, so Amir fired blanks. Rabin ws seen walking into his car unharmed. Later on he was dead with 3 shots and not 2. Also the journey from Kikar malchei Yisrael (Now Kikar rabin) to ichilov hospital took 20 minnutes, whereas it is only a 3 or 4 minute journey.

Here's just one tidbit, which seems to point to a cover-up.
ReplyDeleteIn the transcript of Yigal Amir's sentence, Judge Edmund Levy sets the time of the murder around 21:45. The same goes for the Shamgar Committee: "About 9:50 p.m." This time is very consistent with the arrival of Yitzhak Rabin to the hospital: 21:52, but does not correspond at all with the dry facts: Yigal Amir was already in custody at 21:30 !!! (The time can be seen on the watch, of one of the arresting officers).

Rabin is seen on film, showing no signs of pain upon being shot by Amir. He appears startled, and painlessly turns his head toward the direction of the shot. A person with the injuries he was later shown to have, should have displayed some pain and, if as claimed by hospital surgeons, his spine was shattered, he should have fallen on the spot. Yet Rabin "somehow" walked on his own strength to his limousine, an improbable or impossible feat.

I can make it even deeper. Peres wanted to be prime minister. Rabin had been the prime minister candidate in the previous election because polls showed that if Peres was, Labour would lose. So imagine Peres, the man who would be king. First he negotiates Oslo (in defiance of Israeli law), then forces it on Rabin, and then suddenly he watches as Oslo falls apart, his new bestie Yassir, y"sh, turns out to be - gasp! - a terrorist and Israelis are looking back to the right for leadership.

Fulfil the week of this one מלא שבועה זאת, and we will give thee the other also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.” (Genesis 29:26-27). Laban does only proper actions, the elder before the younger.
Laban discusses the law with Jacob. Laban says that the marriage week must be full and not part of the 7th day counts as a whole day. No, Fulfil the week of this one מלא שבועה זאת.
“And Laban said: Very well, let it be as you say הן לו יהי כדברך. And he removed that day the he-goats that were streaked and spotted, and all the she-goats that were speckled and spotted, every one that had white in it, and all the dark ones among the sheep, and gave them into the hand of his sons. Ordinarily very few streaked and spotted sheep and goats would come out from pure white sheep and goats. Yacov did the “And he set the rods which he had peeled over against the flocks in the gutters in the watering-troughs where the flocks came to drink; and they conceived when they came to drink. And the flocks conceived at the sight of the rods, and the flocks brought forth streaked, speckled, and spotted.” (Idid. 38-39). God did a miracle for Jacob to become rich.
Laban reneged on his word by transferring spotted and streaked to his sons. Laban looks good here: “Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Fear of Isaac, had been on my side, surely now hadst thou sent me away empty. God hath seen mine affliction and the labour of my hands, and gave judgment yesternight. And Laban answered and said unto Jacob: The daughters are my daughters, and the children are my children, and the flocks are my flocks, and all that thou seest is mine; and what can I do this day for these my daughters, or for their children whom they have borne? Hertz Chumash p. 116: “Laban is unable to answer Jacob’s reproaches, and therefore repeats the claim based on primitive usage, whereby the head of the family is the nominal possessor of all that belonged to its members. He then pretends to be solicitous for the welfare of his daughters and grandchildren.”

My theory. Laban had a big drop in his polls with Jacob וַיִּגְנֹב יַעֲקֹב אֶת לֵב לָבָן הָאֲרַמִּי עַל בְּלִי הִגִּיד לוֹ כִּי בֹרֵחַ הוּא:.
