One of the big topics for speeches in the last several months has been "What message is God sending us with coronavirus?" It seems to me one strong possibility is Yishiyahu chapter 1. What do you think?

ReplyDeleteI think it's deeper than that. What coronavirus has exposed is that too many "frum" Jews aren't worshppping God, they are worshipping ritual. They don't care what the halacha says as long as it interferes with their usual behaviour. How different are they from those Jews in the 1st Temple times who did all sorts of terrible things but then brought the finest animals as a chatas offering to the Temple? As long as the Temple stands! As long as the Kohanim serve! This is just repeating itself now so perhaps the old message of rebuke has to get dusted off.
