Although I'm sure this isn't Trump's strategy, if this continues look at the situation 6 months from now. A majority of Americans will have had the virus. The health system, having collapsed, will be rebuilding and returning to previous capacity. Herd immunity will have been achieved. In short, if 100 000 will die, is it better to get it done over 2 months with limited economic damage for the survivors or drag it out over 2 years with major economic damage for the survivors? I'm not suggesting a preference but the question is important.
