abruptly ended a tense press conference at the White House on Tuesday,
after he defended Houston Dr. Stella Immanuel as a "very impressive" for
touting hydroxychloroquine -- just hours after Twitter deleted the
president's retweet of a video featuring Immanuel speaking about the
drug.
At the briefing, CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins highlighted some of
Immanuel's past comments, including that alien DNA is being used in
medical treatments and that doctors want to make people immune from
religion.
She was on-air, along with many other doctors. They were big fans of
hydroxychloroquine. I thought she was very impressive. ... She said that
she's had tremendous success with hundreds of different patients. I
thought her voice was an important voice, but I know nothing about her."
Collins continued shouting questions, prompting the president to head out.

has its own history of questionable claims about hydroxychloroquine:
Last week, Dr. Harvey Risch, a Yale epidemiology professor, rejected a CNN anchor’s "ludicrous" claim that the drug is too dangerous to even talk about as a potential COVID-19 treatment.
So no, the evidence currently states that hydroxychloroquine doesn't work. It may change in a week or a month, who knows, but right now we don't recommend it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'd be interested in reviewing Dr Zelenko and how many halachic principles on the use of experimental and potentially dangerous therapies he violated to develop his "protocol"?
First they explained away HCQ trial failures because it "wasn't combined with zpak." Then when it failed with zpak they explained it away "but this wasn't given early enough." Then other trials where it was given early ALSO failed. Now the famous line is, "It only works when given with zinc."
ReplyDeleteDidier Raoult was the pied piper who foisted this myth onto the world and convinced medical doctors across the world that HCQ might work for covid19, causing mass manufacturing campaigns, govt purchases, Trump promotion, widespread hospital and outpatient prescription, and the launching of untold hundreds of clinical trials, all of which are turning up failures. (And all of this didn't prevent 140,000 US deaths). Raoult NEVER said this had to be taken with Zinc to work. NEVER. He pushed HCQ having moderate efficacy and HCQ + Zpak being curative, ALONE. His small trial in France was Standard of Care vs. HCQ+SOC vs.HCQ+Zpak+SOC. (And that's why so many trials were run without Zinc). Now the story changes because of the failures. As I've said all along, this backwards approach repainting bullseyes around the arrows is not how a medicine is proven to work.
