Glenn Beck, the fiery conservative media personality and former Fox News host, says that he briefly considered voting for Hillary Clinton and called opposing Donald J. Trump the “moral, ethical choice” — even if doing so leads to Mrs. Clinton winning the presidential election.
His comments were made after the release on Friday of a 2005 recording of Mr. Trump boasting about sexual assault that set off a war between the presidential nominee and a broad swath of the Republican establishment, including Paul D. Ryan, the House speaker.
Reacting to the recording, Mr. Beck wrote over the weekend that each person “must decide what is a bridge too far” and said he supported calls for Mr. Trump to withdraw from the presidential race.
“It is not acceptable to ask a moral, dignified man to cast his vote to help elect an immoral man who is absent decency or dignity,” Mr. Beck wrote on Facebook. “If the consequence of standing against Trump and for principles is indeed the election of Hillary Clinton, so be it. At least it is a moral, ethical choice.” [,,,]
Mr. Beck has spoken at length over the years about his dislike for Mrs. Clinton and was an ardent Trump opponent during the Republican primary campaign, likening him to Adolf Hitler and advocating on behalf of Senator Ted Cruz. With Mr. Trump in the general election, though, Mr. Beck said in an interview on Sunday with Vice News that he had considered voting for Mrs. Clinton.
I will tell you that it has crossed my mind to vote for Hillary,” he said in the interview, which aired Monday night. “It has crossed my mind. I think Donald Trump is so unstable, so dangerous, that it has crossed my mind.”
In the end, though, Mr. Beck said that he decided against voting for Mrs. Clinton. He said that he would instead back a little-known third-party candidate, Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party. “I reject the notion of a binary choice,” he wrote on Tuesday on his personal website. “I will not vote for the ‘lesser of two evils.’ ”
On Facebook, Mr. Beck said he wanted his fans to know that “the world does not end” if Ms. Clinton wins the election. He said pushing back against a Clinton White House through protests, the media or “political and procedural maneuvering” would be a worthy effort, but warned conservatives that they would be morally tainted by a vote for Trump.
“If one helps to elect an immoral man to the highest office, then one is merely validating his immorality, lewdness, and depravity,” he wrote.
It's interesting that you picked the deranged guy who buried his face in cheetos to mock Trump. He is obviously unhinged and his failing empire and warped point of view are worthless in this or any issue.
ReplyDeleteDig deep enough and you'll probably find enough dirt about any US candidate for any post to put you off voting. The difference here is that huge efforts are being invested to publicize Trump's misdeeds.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't really need huge efforts unfortunately. He is a willing contributor to most of the misdeeds and doesn't see anything wrong with them. That itself is troublesome. At least the other misbhaving people tried to cover up what was wrong. Trump has no sense of morality
ReplyDeleteno he is not unhinged worthless just because he doesn't accept the fairy tales that you live by. My feelings are similar at this point
ReplyDeleteMore effort has been expended in discovering Hillary Clinton's misdeeds over the past 25 years than those of Trump, by many orders of magnitude. How many multi-million dollar congressional investigations has Trump been the subject of?
ReplyDeleteGlenn Beck has been staunchly Never Trump throughout - way before the recordings came out. He is hiding his damaged ego and persona behind morality.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, so her shrewdness, ability to hide and destroy evidence turns her into a good person? Raiding her former lovers office just as he was murdered is all fine, as long as she advances the policies that you cherish.
ReplyDeleteNo need to respond, since you have proven yourself unable to stay on topic and go for disgusting and baseless personal attacks instead. Unless, of course, you can show yourself to do so - which is highly doubtful.
prove of "raiding former lovers office" etc.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to outdo Trump in making disgusting and baseless personal attacks. Using him as a baseline - there should be no restrictions - especially as to whether there is any factual basis in attacks. The man thing is to sling enough mud until your opponent is overwhelmed
yes he clearly had the insight into Trump before a lot of other people. The question is not whether he is hiding a damage ego but whether his assessment is correct.
ReplyDeleteReading comprehension please: Avraham 1 noted that "huge efforts are being invested to publicize Trump's misdeeds." I responded that this is all the more so true of Clinton, and has been for 25, and that hunt was done by bodies with subpoena power. Do you disagree with that contention?
ReplyDeleteAnd as for "disgusting and baseless personal attacks," first of all, kettle, meet pot. Second, I do not recall engaging in any disgusting personal attacks. If you could point one out, I will apologize for it.
Kenn Star investigated her for going through Vince Foster's office. Senator Al Damato publicly challenged Hillary about her chief of staff Margaret Williams removing files from Fosters office in Arkansas, the day he died in DC. She did say that she only took her stuff..... but did not deny doing it. I' 'll try to provide the link later.
ReplyDeleteWhat's unproven but was a very strong rumor with witnesses is that Hillary and Foster had a personal.... relationship.
Trump and politics is one thing. I was addressing Yehoshua who has a pretty bad track record on your site of steering discussions away from facts and thoughts, and instead turning it into personal attacks in order to somehow have his point stand. Yes, Hillary Clinton is a master at it, as is Donald Trump and many members of the media and liberal activists. I find it to be inappropriate for the comment section of your blog and told him so. His response about my reading proves it, as he doesn't have a coherent response to my point that Clinton is better at hiding her garbage and is more shrewd about it - but she is quite dirty and two-faced, as the wiki leaks emails show.
You don't think that Beck is an entertainer first and moralist second, and that his needs for his show will supersede his moral standings?
ReplyDeleteYou mean, allegations like a Founding Father had a teenage slave mistress he secretly fathered children with?
ReplyDeleteThose allegations have been totally debunked
ReplyDeleteNo, they haven't.
