5 Towns Jewish Times Saudi
Arabia is the second to largest country in the entire Arab world. It has
a population of approximately twenty seven million people, and
geographically, is to the south of Jordan which is directly to the south
of Israel. Although Saudi Arabia, along with the other Arab states,
have officially been at war with Israel since 1948, there are areas
where it has been becoming mutually beneficial for the under cover
collaboration of Israel and Saudi Arabia. This collaboration would be
extremely fascinating because Saudi Arabia is home to Islam’s two
holiest places, Mecca and Medina, therefore being integral to all
Muslims who as a general rule hate Israel and the Jews! [...]
In
conclusion, although externally Saudi Arabia and Israel appear to still
be at war with each other, really they may maintain a hidden alliance,
created because of common strategic needs. As we can observe from Israel
and Saudi Arabia’s recent work to achieve the common goal of installing
the new Egyptian regime, their collaborative efforts could achieve
great successes. What would happen to the entire Middle East if Israel
and Saudi Arabia ever became allied outwardly! With Saudi Arabia’s
wealth and Israel’s political persuasiveness and potent military
ability, they would be able to change the entire Middle Eastern region!
"Israel and Saudi Arabia – Foes or Friends?"
ReplyDeleteAnswer: In Realpolitik, the answer is simple;
The enemy of my enemy is my 'friend'"!
Here is the "political equation":
Iran = enemy of Israel
and
Iran=enemy of Saudi Arabia
therefore:
Israel + Saudi Arabia = 'friends'
A little deeper:
It is Sunni Islam versus Shia Islam:
Iran = center of Shia Islam
while:
Saudi Arabia = center of Sunni Islam
therefore they are rivals
But both Iran and Saudi Arabia want to destroy Israel, yet they also want to destroy each other, so Israel can play one against the other, just as America plays/played Red China against Soviet Russia.
Iran tried to create an alliance with the Muslim Brotherhood (MB = founded by Fascist & Nazi agents in the 1920s & 1930s) in Egypt, even though the MB is Sunni, but the common hatred of the common enemies (USA + Israel) also resulted in "the enemy of my enemy is my 'friend'" -- but obviously they (Iran and the MB) lost this gamble in Egypt which is mostly secular, going back to its days when it was occupied by the Turks and Napoleon and the British.
In the past Israel was "allied" with Iran under the more secular friendly Shah against Saudi Arabia and the hostile Arabs, but now that Iran is over/run by the fanatical Mullahs (brought in by US President Jimmy Carter), Israel sides with Saudi Arabia. BUT (this gets murky) during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988), Israel sided with the more Islamic IRAN against the more secular IRAQ because Iraq under Saddam was the greater threat! Against because of "the enemy of my enemy is my 'friend'"!
At rock bottom, the struggle between Iran and Saudi Arabia has other "levels":
The ancient struggle between the Persians (who are "Aryans"="Iran")and the Arabs (who are Semites).
There is also the struggle over the control over the COMMERCIAL waterways of the Persian Gulf known to Arabs as the "Arabian Gulf" and the strategic Strait of Hormuz through which the PETROLEUM of Iran/Persia, Iraq-Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia are shipped by huge tankers to feed the hungry world economies of Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
Iraq has in effect been neutered while its own Arab Shia majority (backed by Iran) fights with its Sunni minority (backed by the Saudis). But at least the oil is flowing for now. The problem is that Iran's leadership has megalomaniacal and "messianic" visions of taking over the world and they therefore support terrorists like Hizbullah in Lebanon and the brutal Alawites in Syria. The Sunni Saudis and the Sunni Emirs of the United Arab Emirates and a few other like Quatar, Bahrain, Oman, also suffer from delusions of grandeur and spreading Islam by fear and therefore support and are behind Al Qaida.
This is the crazy "neighborhood" and military and political geo-strategic environment Israel and its Jews must not only live in, but also triumph over because Israel can never afford to make a mistake even once that would G-d forbid cost it its survival.
Good Shabbos!
Alliances in the MiddleEast are like the shifting sand dunes and duplicity is like the ever constant sun. If Saudi Arabia needs Israel you can be sure they'll secretly make contact and offer all the cooperation they can. The minute they don't they'll pull out the knife and aim for Israel's back.
