An advertisement appeared in the Jewish Week (August 28, 1998) presenting the procedures for annulling a marriage based on kiddushei ta'ut (see previous chapter). The advertisement added that these principles guide the practice of the Beit Din Zedek LiBaiayot Agunot, which Rabbis Emanuel Rackman and Moses Morgenstern operate.¹After publication of the advertisement, it was reported that Rabbis Rackman and Morgenstern split from one another. Shortly afterwards, Rabbi Rackman distributed a letter to the membership of the Rabbinical Council of America (dated December 14, 1998) defending the principles outlined in the advertisement. In this chapter, we explain why virtually all Orthodox rabbis reject these procedures (see, for example, Appendix).

We will conclude by citing from a speech delivered by Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik to the Rabbinical Council of America, in response to Rabbi Rackman's proposal:⁷A relevant piece of the Rav's speech appears in The Journal of Halacha and Contemporary Society (9:140-141). The Rav's students cite his adamant opposition to Rabbi Rackman's proposal regarding kiddushei ta'ut in Hamevaser (38:2) and Beit Yitzchak (29:232).

Rav Soloveitchik’s famous argument with Rabbi Emanuel Rackman—renowned Talmudic scholar and thinker, later to become Dean of Bar-Ilan University—is another example of the former’s sometimes extreme halachic conservatism. In several places, the Talmud introduces a rule that states: Tav Lemeitav tan du mi-lemeitav armelu—It is better to live as two than to live alone,[11] which refers to the fact that a woman would prefer to marry almost any man rather than remain alone.

Rav Soloveitchik sees this as a “permanent ontological principle,” which is beyond historical conditions, and that even in our day needs to be applied and cannot be changed. This principle operates under the assumption that even today’s women prefer to stay in a marriage, no matter how unfortunate the circumstances may be. To be alone is worse. This means that a woman cannot claim that had she known what kind of person her husband is, she never would have married him. If she could make this claim, her marriage would be a “mistaken marriage,” which would not even require a get (bill of divorce), since the marriage took place on a false premise and the woman would never have agreed to it had she known. In that case, she was never considered lawfully married and could leave her partner without receiving a get. Since this obviously has enormous repercussions for today’s society, it could help thousands of women.[12] Rav Soloveitchik was not prepared to take that approach and thus blocked the possibility for many of them to leave their partners without a get.

It seems to me that the above-mentioned rabbis were talmidei chachamim no less than Rav Soloveitchik was. Their disadvantages were that they didn’t occupy a central role in Modern Orthodox and Yeshiva University circles, and above all they didn’t belong to renowned Ashkenazic rabbinical families. Had they been called Soloveitchik, their Torah would have received far more attention and would probably have been much more effective.

According to the report, Deri will plead guilty to non-reporting of tax and will pay a fine of about NIS 180,000. In addition, he will resign from the Knesset. The arrangement is expected to be drafted and submitted soon.

As part of the plea bargain agreement between the State Attorney's Office and Deri, he is not expected to plead guilty to tax evasion offenses, but to offenses of reporting without criminal intent only. The investigation against Deri was opened five years ago, and also included a suspicion of bribery, the case on which was already closed at the stage of the police recommendations.

"This would allow for the conditions to be met for a modification of the defendant’s sentence as was discussed by the People in the initial sentencing hearing."

 The very publishing of a magical book could be fraught with dangers of its own. The German bibliographer Johann Christoph Wolf, in his Bibliotheca Hebraea of 1715 took note of inflamed opposition to the publication of Raziel in certain rabbinic circles. In his description of the book, he notes, “Judaei illius editionem adeo non probarunt, ut de eo comburendo & prohibendo quosdam cogitasse audiverim. [The Jews did not approve of its publication to such an extent that I have heard some thought about burning and suppressing it.]” Such secondary dangers—in the sense that they stem not from the threat posed by the magical material but by the reception of the book in the contemporary social context—must have contributed to many a publisher’s decision to do so anonymously. R. Leon Modena provides an early example of this practice. Modena lists “Selling books of arcane remedies [segulot]” as well as “teaching arcane remedies and amulets” at the end of his autobiographical ethical will, Hayyei Yehudah, as among “the many endeavors I have tried in order to earn my living, trying without success.” Modena also mentioned a certain Beretin who “died in jail during inquisitorial proceedings for copying books of arcane remedies. Also a tailor was fined … in connection with proscribed arcane remedies.”

 The striking feature of the Christian apprehension of Jewish sorcery is that it adhered not to certain specific Jews, who had aroused it by their actions, but rather to the entire people, en masse.  So onerous did these recurrent accusations become that the rabbis of the Middle Ages found it necessary—forced to this step, no doubt, by Jewish public opinion—to suspend some of these customs. In the case of the clod-throwing, though "many were obliged to disregard the usage for fear that the Gentiles would accuse them of sorcery," custom was proof against fear. But in other instances fear triumphed. The mourning rites of "binding the head" and "overturning the bed" lapsed during the Middle Ages for this reason. In Talmudic times fear of the same accusation had led Jewish authorities to excuse the head of the household from the rite of "searching out the leaven" on the eve of the Passover in places owned in common with a non-Jew; during the Middle Ages there was a strong but unsuccessful agitation to suspend this rite altogether, even indoors, "because we have Gentile serving-girls in our homes" who might spread the alarm. In Provence, however, the ritual cleansing of the public oven in preparation for Passover baking was neglected "because of the Gentiles’ suspicion of sorcery." When a fire broke out in a Jewish house its owner dared expect little mercy from the mob, for he was a sorcerer seeking to destroy Christendom, and his punishment was commonly simultaneous with his crime. The rabbis of the time were therefore unusually tolerant about violations of the prohibition to put out fires on the Sabbath and on the Day of Atonement. At the slightest danger they set this prohibition aside, "for this is a matter of life and death, since they accuse us and persecute us." We read of a lamb, slaughtered in fulfillment of a ritual obligation, which was cut up and buried secretly in sections, "so that the matter may not become known and they say, 'it was done for magical ends.'" To such measures were Jews driven by fear of arousing the suspicions of their neighbors.

Dr Jane Ruby joins Stew Peters to discuss the findings of a group of doctors in South Korea, who call themselves the Korean Veritas Doctors for COVID-19.After obtaining vials of partially-used vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, they claim to have observed “moving organisms” via stereomicroscopy at 400X magnification and they warmed the vials to human body temperatures (97ºF–99ºF).This Korean group reportedly sent the samples to an OBGYN lab that is run by Dr Young Mi Lee, who is said to be coming forward and who will hopefully be on the Stew Peters show soon. Dr. Ruby says she was just contacted by one of the Korean doctors and she says, “They’re very concerned. They just made these discoveries several days ago. They’re in the process of continuing their analysis with additional vials…

“They saw these forms under the microscope…start to, not only move, Stew but what’s really new about this is that they changed form, according to these doctors.

“And this goes along with what Fauci testifies to the House Energy Committee on December 4th, 2019, when he was expanding on the Executive Order that President Trump had signed in September of 2019. He embellished it by adding, ‘These are going to be mRNA particles. These are going to be self-assembling nanoparticles.’

“And these [Korean] doctors are apparently seeing this very same thing. And it’s interesting, we’ve all wondered why these materials have to be kept on dry ice, there are very strict parameters and now we’ve learned a lot more since then…

“Whatever’s in these vials, that we still need some chemical analysis on, they actually will start to do different things and become different things when they are warmed to 98 or so degrees.”

Dr Ruby shows three images from this group of doctors. The first shows a perfect disk-shaped object that’s reminiscent of those from a Pfizer vial and photographed by South African microscopy expert, Dr Xandré Botha.

They report that, “These disks apparently began to turn and spin – remember, there’s nothing added to it and there’s a cover plate, so they’re not moving it. These things are moving upon warming up to 98 degrees.

“Now, the second picture is particularly frightening, I think. It is a long, stringy wormlike-looking object/organism and they have a red arrow pointing to a section that in the video will show that it moved in a certain way, as soon as it was warmed-up to human temperatures.

“And then, the third picture that they gave me, that I brought here today, you see two sort-of striated organisms in the lower right hand corner. In the upper left hand corner, you see almost another set of what I would call ‘Twin Organisms’.

“According to them, when these were warmed – and this is the whole point – a lot of other people that have looked at this may have had it at room temperature or human temperature for many hours or days, we don’t know.

“We’ve got a real description of methodology, where they, specifically in their methodology, warmed-up the material and then saw the changes. They were not expecting the changes.

“So these twin objects right here all started to move, to attach to each other, they changed their shapes, they moved around. These people are literally blown away.

“They did find significant bacterial growth, Stew and I think I’ve reported before, in some of the Pfizer documents, where they have reported on…general reports on their safety and manufacturing practices; very loose, not according to full FDA regs.

“But they’ve talked about ‘colony-forming units’; that you can have a certain amount of bacteria in these things, as allowed by the FDA – which we know doesn’t exist right now.

“They also said that, in addition to the things that we see in these three photos (the other 4 photos are very similar to this), there are countless unidentified microorganisms. They are going to get to the bottom of this.

“I want you to know that they advised me that they are getting a large number of both Pfizer and Moderna vials that are sealed and that are going to be kept on the dry ice, according to protocol and they’re going to start looking at them and replicating their own work.

“This is where a lot of researchers – some of them have replicated their work, like Dr Botha. I have witnessed her on video – live video, showing me the replication of her steps. A number of other doctors have not done that but these doctors have and their plan is that they say they have made contact with a source, they are going to get, in their words, ‘many more vials’ and their going to focus on Moderna a Pfizer and I think that’s a good idea.

“Because if you notice, just yesterday…the FDA is running interference for Pfizer, by now coming out and saying, ‘Oh! The J&J injections are dangerous for blood clots!’

“Well, I’ve got news for everybody: They’re ALL dangerous and they’re all prone to give you blood clots, brain bleeds and things like that.”

Dr Ruby says she’s not at liberty to discuss the identity of the other doctors involved but she was told that someone was going to come forward to verify this report.

She continues, “We need to know, when they self-assemble, they kind of come alive in the warmth of 98.6ºF, what is their mission? Where are they going? What are they supposed to be doing? And can we turn it off?

“We don’t know. We don’t know. It’s just a cornucopia of mystery. We just keep peeling little pieces of the onion back but we’re going to stay in touch with these South Korean researchers and doctors, we are going to, hopefully going to have contact with Dr Mi Lee, who will hopefully come on the Stew Peters Show and tell us more in detail.

Dr Ruby concludes by saying, “I want to tie this all back to your call to action, attorney Thomas Renz’ call to action, Dr David Martin – we have a lot of tools right now, we have so much that we can do. These people need to be answerable, not just Fauci and Gates. They’re all part of this and the whole criminal conspiracy and racketeering group.

“It’s everybody at the NIH, it’s everybody at the FDA. All of these people that have been on voluntary panels, like Dr Rubin before we find out that it’s safe and effective, all of these people that have made recommendations that have resulted in people getting these bioweapon shots, these poisons – they all need to be held accountable.

“They’re not all under the immunity and if we can show the conspiracy and saturate our attorneys general across the United States, we might have a shot at stopping this whole thing and blowing a hole through the legal immunity that these companies are enjoying right now.”

Stew then refers to documents that, “Serves every member of Congress and they’re all complicit if they’re not speaking out against this, if they’re not stopping it immediately. Your elected representatives are your servants. Put them on notice. Go do it. It takes 10 seconds and it will be effective.”

 Despite changing norms and perceptions, premarital cohabitation still appears to be a risk factor for divorce (Rosenfeld & Roesler, 2019). This does not mean that every couple that lives together prior to marriage later divorces; nor does it suggest that not living together first guarantees stability. It simply looks at the group data at large and shows a trend between living together prior to marriage and subsequent separations. Across all years examined in this study, the odds of divorce were 1.31 times higher for women who cohabitated prior to marriage.
