Rav Shlomo Fisher - Halachic authority of public acceptance by the masses
Marc B. Shapiro – Forgery and the Halakhic Process
https://seforimblog.com/2007/08/marc-b-shapiro-forgery-and-halakhic-2/
In The Limits of Orthodox Theology I quoted the following comment of R. Bezalel Naor, who was quoting his teacher, the Gaon R. Shlomo Fisher of Jerusalem: “The truth, known to Torah scholars, is that Maimonides’ formulation of the tenets of Jewish belief is far from universally accepted.” For those who don’t know, R. Fisher is one of the gedolim of our time, and you can see many of his shiurim on yeshiva.org.il. Many of these shiurim focus on Talmud (and he has published the great rabbinic work, Beit Yishai), but R. Fisher is also the only one of our gedolim who is an expert in Jewish philosophy. This explains why his Derashot Beit Yishai are very different than other collections of derashot. Professor Zev Harvey told me that from R. Fisher’s edition of Crescas’ Or ha-Shem, it is clear that he used Wolfson’s Hebrew text found in Crescas’ Critique of Aristotle.[1]
Someone I know currently attends R. Fisher’s weekly shiur on Avnei Miluim, the last half-hour of which is devoted to issues of hashkafah. Interestingly enough, he reported to me that a few weeks ago R. Fisher declared that he believes the Rambam abandoned his system of 13 Principles, the proof being that they are never mentioned as a unit in the Mishneh Torah.[2] In my book, I noted that R. Shlomo Goren held the same view. R. Goren also makes another interesting point, that while in the Commentary on the Mishnah Maimonides requires one to actually believe in certain principles, in the Mishneh Torah he only requires you not to deny any principles. One who has never heard of a principle obviously does not believe in it, which makes him a heretic according to the Commentary on the Mishnah. But according to the Mishneh Torah, since this person does not actually deny the principle, he is not regarded as a heretic.

Goldberg and Hayes confirmed in a Sunday post on their conservative online magazine, The Dispatch, that they had left Fox News over "irresponsible" voices at the network.
In a joint statement, the pair said: "Fox News still does real reporting, and there are still responsible conservatives providing valuable opinion and analysis. But the voices of the responsible are being drowned out by the irresponsible.
"A case in point: Patriot Purge,
a three-part series hosted by Tucker Carlson. The special, which ran on

promoted on Fox News, is presented in the style of an expose, a
hard-hitting piece of investigative journalism.

In breaking news, Dr. Young addresses the call for information from a Dutch pathologist witnessing blood coagulation (and micro-bleed skin discoloration called peticchiae) in high numbers of deceased, post-vaccine, and explains this is the immense harm being caused by the Nano Graphene and Iron Oxide poisoning (now found to be contained in all 4 major vaccines—Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson) which is coagulating red blood cells extremely and causing a crystallizing of the blood cells. Nano Graphene inside the cells is also making people extremely electrically conductive and paramagnetic, while opening them up to remote-access manipulation from wireless/5G radiation by linking them up to cell towers and supercomputing AI.

Rabbi Kaplan
https://mishpacha.com/rabbi-kaplan/
For all his brilliance, Rabbi Kaplan’s focus was inspiring teenagers. It was in this transition from responsibility to accountability, from child to adult, that he saw potential for resonant ideas. A young adult, many point out, is called na’ar in the Torah, which derives from the letters ayin-reish, meaning “awake.” Teenagers are awake to causes, ideals, and values that are often replaced by the pragmatism of our adult years. Perhaps it is we who have fallen asleep.
A terrorist shatters all the stereotypes about terrorists
https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/317340
Shkhaydem and his family lived in the northeastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat. Classified as a “refugee camp,” Shuafat is adjacent to two Jewish neighborhoods, Pisgat Ze’ev and French Hill. Its residents take the same light rail line as the residents of those cities. In other words, the Shkhaydems had plenty of opportunities for peaceful interaction with Israeli Jews.
Shkhaydem was not some uneducated street thug. He has been described in news reports as “an Islamic scholar.” He was a well-known preacher in Jerusalem mosques, including the al-Aqsa mosque on the Temple Mount. He was a teacher at the Rashidiya Secondary School, in Jerusalem which is in the municipial school system, but teaches the PA curriculum. He was “working on his PhD,” according to Shibli Sweiti, the terrorist’s uncle.
The main cause of terrorism is ideology, not poverty. That may be
hard for some Americans to comprehend because it’s so different from our
own experience. Most Americans are not ideological. American culture
doesn’t accept political violence. The American government doesn’t
promote the use of violence. And the religions that most Americans
embrace do not espouse violence.

Knesset confrontation: 'Abbas, condemn Jerusalem attack'
https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/317379
A confrontation took place in the Knesset plenum Monday evening between Religious Zionism party chairman Bezalel Smotrich and United Arab List (Ra'am) chairman Mansour Abbas.
In his speech, Smotrich addressed Abbas, who chaired the session as Deputy Knesset Speaker, and demanded that he condemn the deadly shooting attack by a Hamas terrorist in Jerusalem yesterday.
The Ra'am party condemned the attack on Sunday, but only in Hebrew, due to concerns over potential criticism from the Arab public should they issue a condemnation in Arabic as well.
No, Rabbi Cardozo, the Torah is Not Flawed
https://cross-currents.com/2016/10/30/no-rabbi-cardozo-the-torah-is-not-flawed/
I have friends who were profoundly impacted by Rabbi Cardozo in his early days as a master lecturer in hashkafah (Jewish philosophy) at a famous Jerusalem yeshiva. I think that all of us one way or another benefited from Rabbi Cardozo’s early writings, as an expositor par excellence of authentic Torah perspectives, using scholarly academic tools to reach the minds of those who otherwise would not appreciate the material. We are quite saddened by Rabbi Cardozo’s departure from this model and his embarkation on a path of subverting Torah teachings and Torah authority. We long for the previous Rabbi Cardozo to reemerge and again spread the light of genuine Torah wisdom.

My Body, My Choice? The Paradox of Republican Anti-vaxxers
https://www.vogue.com/article/my-body-my-choice-the-paradox-of-republican-anti-vaxxers
The first time I saw a photo of an anti-vaxxer with a sign that read “My Body My Choice,” I was sort of puzzled. I thought perhaps the photo editor had used the wrong image to accompany the story—but then I saw that the sign also included a picture of a mask with a red line across it. No, these people weren’t protesting a government that was regulating uteruses, a government that was telling women when they could end a pregnancy that was going on in their own bodies. They were instead protesting a simple and painless public-health measure. They were mad at the idea of having to wear a piece of fabric on their faces. For this particular group, government regulation was fine unless it was regulating them—at which point it became a horrible infringement on their constitutional rights.

A far-right anti-vaxxer Italian lawmaker provoked outrage when he referred to a prominent Holocaust survivor by the number tattooed on her arm by the Nazis.

The number was tattooed onto her skin at the Auschwitz concentration camp when she was a young teenager.
MK Ben Gvir asks for moment of silence in memory of terrorist victim, ejected from Knesset
https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/317358
On Monday, the Knesset held a session on “Stopping settler violence,” an initiative of MKs Mossi Raz (Meretz), Ibtisam Mar’ana (Labor), and Osama Saadi (Joint List), along with the extreme left-wing organizations Yesh Din, Breaking the Silence, and Peace Now.
According to the organizers of the initiative, they were motivated by “record-high numbers of attacks by West Bank settlers in recent weeks.” They also alleged that, ”There have been 416 terrorist attacks perpetrated by Jews in the first half of the year alone.”
MK Itamar Ben Gvir, head of the Otzma Yehudit party, made a sudden entrance to the Knesset during the special session, and suggested to those present that they stand for a moment’s silence in memory of Eli Kay, murdered in a terrorist attack on Sunday in Jerusalem. He then told his unwilling audience, “You should be ashamed of yourselves.”

Details of immortality are not mentioned in the Torah since
revelation only deals with the present world. The prophet therefore says
when speaking of the World to Come, "Never has the ear heard it -- no
eye has seen it -- other than God: That which He will do for those who
hope in Him" (Isaiah 64:3). That is, not even the great prophets were
allowed to envision the reward of the righteous in the Ultimate future.
Letter from Chaim Walder proclaiming innocence of crimes
חיים וולדר: אני חף משפע!!!
Author Chaim Walder has published a response to recent defamatory attacks made on him in the media, first printed in the Haaretz newspaper and since published elsewhere, along with calls to boycott his dozens of books written over a decades-long career.
“I appeal to everyone who has been exposed to the serious allegations made against me and I cry the cry of Dreyfus who was degraded in the public square, stripped of his insignia, his sword broken before a huge crowd – I am innocent of all wrongdoing. I beg of you to do just one thing: Invest a small amount of time, a drop of logic, and question whether these terrible defamatory statements have any basis to them. Do not be hasty to pass judgment on someone who has worked all his life on behalf of children and their rights,” Walder said in his statement.
Walder stressed that he categorically denies the allegations made against him, accusing him of exploiting minors. “This is a tissue of lies for which there can be no forgiveness,” he said, “and the entire purpose of these claims is to make the bizarre claim that I acted in entire contradiction to everything that I have worked for – protecting children.”

Rittenhouse Lawyer Slams GOP Reps, Donald Trump Jr Over Offers of Jobs, Free Gun
https://www.newsweek.com/rittenhouse-lawyer-slams-gop-congressman-trump-over-job-offers-1651671
Kyle Rittenhouse's attorney accused prominent Republicans of trying to profit off his client, calling it "disgusting."
Rittenhouse, 18, was charged with homicide, attempted homicide and reckless endangering for killing two men and injuring a third with an AR-style semi-automatic rifle during a night of protests in August last year over the shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, by a white police officer in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Rittenhouse traveled from his home in nearby Antioch, Illinois, to join other armed civilians on the streets, carrying a weapon that authorities said was illegally bought for him because he was underage.
Keeping SS Threatens Women
BS"D
November 21, '21 / 17 Kislev, 5782 / Parshas Vayaishev (v.2)
by Binyomin Feinberg, formerly, a contributor to The Jewish Press
On Thursday, November 18th, the ranking Republican member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator James Inhofe (R, OK), spoke vibrantly for about 20 minutes on the Senate floor about the NDAA, the yearly "must-pass" National Defense Authorization Act (https://www.c-span.org/video/
Additionally, a revealing number of Republicans are known to be positioned or even ensconced on the wrong side of the issue. Even in the Senate Armed Services Committee itself, reportedly 8 out of 13 REPUBLICANS voted to include women in a potential military draft. [This one fact says much about the actual orientation of the contemporary GOP.] Additionally, all but two REPUBLICAN Senate Committee members voted for the final package bill, despite it's inclusion of said female expansion - which, in any lucid legislature, would be a poison-pill (cf. https://www.rollcall.com/
In contrast, S.A. 4161 (sponsored by Sen. Wyden), clearly has a fighting chance. It is an amendment to repeal Selective Service altogether (akin to S. 1139, a stand-alone bill with bipartisan support). SS Repeal is a policy that has long had much Democratic support. Although this amendment too, at this moment, may not have enough openly-declared support yet, the very tangible potential for passage is clearly present - if the GOP would only get behind it.
So why promote losing legislation when there is an alternative that has a real fighting chance of passage? Specifically, why should a leading Republican push an amendment that requires swinging resistant Democrats - something quite impractical - when they could alternatively promote legislation that really just needs Republicans themselves to get their own act together, which is doable, provided willingness?
Conventional wisdom may answer that the senior Senator, who remembers the end of WWII, is more dedicated to preserving Selective Service than preventing the drafting of women [and the expansion of Selective Service to purposes other than replenishing troops lost in battle]. Some may also suspect that some Republicans may actually wish to fight to lose - in order to leverage the passage of including women in Selective Service - and the fear of any future female or "national emergency" draft - as a campaign issue to take back Congress next year. However, neither of those calculations would be seen by much of the Republican base as justifying laying the groundwork for forcing women into the exploitive military environment. How much more so is that the case in regard to the specter of forcing women into actual combat, facing violent male enemy troops, and the possibility of capture, with all the unspeakable abuse that entails.
"The freedom-fighters ("Mujadeen" - Ed.) in Afghanistan, who are striving for the liberation of their country, deserve the admiration of the entire world, and their courage and persistence in fighting for freedom is the greatest single deterrent to the Soviet aggression being successful."
It's important to listen, carefully and analytically, to the entire speech of Senator Inhofe. Ironically, his speech is one of the strongest arguments to end Selective Service (which he apparently very strongly supports) - from a strictly military perspective. His dramatized description of looming military threats from powerful adversaries (Russia) and belligerent enemies (e.g. North Korea), even if partially overblown (particularly regarding Russia, which is quite apparently not interested in a hot war with the U.S.), is all the more reason to end Selective Service now.
That's because, if Congress fails to eliminate Selective Service now, the NDAA will pass, as is, including women. That itself will erode the taboo of forcing women into the Armed Forces, and even into combat. It will also contribute to robbing military women of their cherished status as deserving the dignity reserved for women for thousands of years, by men of all walks of life. The natural consequences of degraded attitude is degraded conduct. That will translate into normalization of mistreatment of women who volunteer to enlist. Americans will thus be stuck with the escalation of exploitation of women in the U.S. Armed Forces, even before any draft is invoked, G-d forbid. Those skeptical of this gloomy projection are invited to learn what is already happening in the U.S. military, by reviewing the extensive materials posted at the site of the Center for Military Readiness (a conservative advocacy organization specializing in military and social issues), e.g. https://www.cmrlink.org/
"The commission’s debate followed testimony from instructorsfrom the Survival, Evasion, Resistance & Escape (SERE) program, an intense Air Force course that trains potential prisoners of war. The instructors told the Commission that gender integration in the combat arms could succeed, but only if the nation became “desensitized” to the reality of combat abuse and violence against women. [13]
"That disturbing argument proved too much for most commissioners. “Good men,” said commissioner Kate O’Beirne, “protect and defend women.” [end of quote]
In the merit of opposition to this Hellenistic proposal to register women for Selective Service, perhaps we'll avert the specter of needing a draft (see VaYikra / Leviticus 18). Allowing passage of the cruel mandate to force women into the exploitative military environment - and into brutally "unequally" deadly combat scenarios - will - without a shadow of a doubt - not bode well for meriting the Divine Protection that America truly needs. When those who seek to save women from this manifestly faulty Republican battle-plan inform the GOP that they will score them accordingly, based on their actions, not their patriotic rhetoric or staged fencing bouts (http://daattorah.blogspot.
Orthodox Rabbi Teaching Halakha Beyond the Shulkhan Arukh, Judaism Beyond the Commandments
NLC: I am of the opinion that Abraham, by being prepared to do so, to sacrifice his son, failed the test. I think that the reading of the binding of Isaac should be different from the conventional approach as some chassidic texts indeed seem to suggest . For an excellent overview read: The Fear, the Trembling and the Fire by my dear friend, Professor Jerome (Yehudah) I. Gellman, published by University Press of America in 1994.
Today’s Chief rabbis are not like the famous Rav Avraham Yitschak Kook, Rav Ben Zion Uziel or Rav Isaac Yitschak Herzog. I think that in the Ashkenazi Rabbinate the last person of greatness was Rav Shlomo Goren. He had the knowledge and he had the creativity. Afterwards this whole Institution disintegrated.
Both the Shulkhan Arukh and earlier Maimonides' famous codification of Jewish Law, the Mishneh Torah ("Repetition of the Torah", a code of Jewish religious law compiled between 1170 and 1180) are tremendous scholarly achievements. But what Maimonides did was extremely dangerous. By writing down the Mishneh Torah, Maimonides finalized the halakha. He basically said, this is the halakha and nothing else. He even wrote in the forward to this masterpiece, that there is no longer any need to study the Talmud because he had put it all in front of us. Here it is! For once and for all. He provides no minority opinions, he acts precisely as what he probably he was, as the greatest talmudic genius of his time and possibly of all time, and we - after a period of resistance when his books were burned in some communities - have turned him into an halachic idol: If Maimonides says so, then there's nothing left to discuss. We canonized him.
Rabbi Goren Says Halacha Behind Times -(or how not to be supported by Orthodoxy)
https://www.jta.org/archive/rabbi-goren-says-halacha-behind-times
Addressing members of the Guild for Religion and Spirit of B’nai B’rith, Rabbi Goren, who holds the rank of general, said that halacha in this generation had not advanced hand-in-hand with the times and technology nor did it incorporate any innovations. He said halacha was powerless to solve the intricate problems of the modern Israeli nation and expressed regret that the present generation found no courage to make innovations–in spite of technological possibilities–which would have made it easier to observe the injunctions of the Torah. including keeping the Sabbath.
There's nothing more frightening in America today than an angry White man
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/20/us/angry-white-men-trials-blake-cec/index.html
But consider the potential danger of other White men -- or any person wielding a gun in public -- feeling emboldened to use deadly force against even an unarmed person by evoking the logic in those defenses, said Eric Ruben, a Second Amendment expert.
"In other words, their own decision to carry a gun became a justification to use it, lest it be wrested away from them," Ruben recently told the New York Times.
Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham warned the GOP that "We're not generating enough angry White guys to stay in business for the long term."
The Rules of Halacha by Rabbi Aryeh Kaplan
https://www.aish.com/jl/m/pm/48932007.html
God therefore granted the Jewish people as a whole a sort of collective Divine Inspiration so that they would be able to recognize the correct opinion in questions of Torah law. Therefore, when there is any question, it is ultimately decided on the basis of what becomes common practice. Hence, when a decision is accepted as a general custom, it becomes universally binding.
Therefore, any practice, decision or code that is universally accepted by the Jewish people is assumed to represent God's will and is binding as such. Even when a decision is initially disputed, the commonly accepted opinion becomes binding as law.

The lionization of Kyle Rittenhouse by the right
https://www.politico.com/news/2021/11/19/the-lionization-of-kyle-rittenhouse-by-the-right-523054
“When you turn a foolish young man into a hero, you’ll see more foolish young men try to emulate his example,” wrote conservative commentator David French in The Atlantic. “And although the state should not permit rioters to run rampant in America’s streets, random groups of armed Americans are utterly incapable of imposing order themselves, and any effort to do so can lead to greater death and carnage.”
But those voices have been in the minority. More common has been a refrain that Rittenhouse has been a victim of media hysteria like others before him. Kirk pointed to Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and Nick Sandmann, the Kentucky teen falsely accused of trying to intimidate a Native American drummer at the Lincoln Memorial, as similar cases of media “smear jobs.”
Pregnant people with COVID face higher risk for stillbirths, CDC data show
Pregnant people who are infected with COVID-19 face a greater risk of experiencing a stillbirth compared with uninfected people, new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data released on Friday show.
Driving the news: The data found that of the 8,154 stillbirths documented between March 2020 and September 2021, 1.26% of deliveries among people with COVID-19 resulted in stillbirth, compared to 0.65% of deliveries among uninfected individuals.
- "These findings underscore the importance of COVID-19 prevention strategies, including vaccination before or during pregnancy," the CDC wrote.
- Among patients with COVID-19, stillbirths were more common in people with chronic high blood pressure and other complications, such as individuals in intensive care or on breathing machines,
Young US Jews thriving the least in their spiritual lives — cross-religious survey
A massive survey conducted over the past year found that even as young Americans are rejecting traditional organized religion, they are still embracing faith and spirituality, broadly defined.
The pollsters behind the Springtide Research Institute, a new nonprofit dedicated to research about the “inner and outer lives” of young people, say their poll, of more than 10,000 Americans between 13 and 25, is without recent precedent in its size and breadth. They also said Jewish respondents — 215 in total, a sample size they identified as statistically significant — appeared to be among those thriving the least in their religious and spiritual lives.
Kyle Rittenhouse case: Why it so divides the US
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-59348734
The facts of that night have never been up for debate - Kyle Rittenhouse killed two men and injured a third.
Instead the jury had to work out why he did it. He was being chased by a group of people when he fired the fatal shots. Was he acting in self-defence or was he a dangerous vigilante provoking an already volatile situation in a city he did not belong to?
Many groups who want tighter gun control say it was the latter. They are worried that by being cleared of the charges, Mr Rittenhouse's case now sets a precedent - that anyone can turn up to angry protests with a gun, but without facing any consequences.

Fox News to interview Kyle Rittenhouse amid protests over not guilty verdict
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2021/nov/20/fox-news-tucker-carlson-interview-kyle-rittenhouse
Mark Richards, an attorney for Rittenhouse, told CNN’s Chris Cuomo that a Fox film crew was embedded with the defense team for the duration of the trial, which Richards did not approve of. “I threw them out of the room several times,” Richards said. “I don’t think a film crew is appropriate for something like this.”
In the aftermath of the Rittenhouse verdict and the success of his self-defense argument, some experts have raised concerns that Rittenhouse’s verdict will empower extremist movements and provoke violence in the name of vigilantism.
“It has never taken more than a whisper of approval to fan the flames of militant right action, and the Kenosha acquittal is a shout,” wrote Kathleen Belew, a historian who studies the white power movement, on Twitter.
Jeri Bonavia, executive director of the Wave Educational Fund, an organization in Wisconsin that aims to prevent gun violence, told NBC News that the trial is “feeding this idea that individual citizens need to be out there, not as part of a functioning society, but as these rogue dispensers of justice”.
Here's what legal experts say helped acquit Kyle Rittenhouse
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/19/us/legal-experts-what-helped-rittenhouse-acquittal/index.html
Wisconsin law allows the use of deadly force only if "necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm." And because Rittenhouse's attorneys claimed self-defense, state law meant the burden fell on prosecutors to disprove Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense beyond a reasonable doubt.
Kyle Rittenhouse's case was always going to be an uphill battle
https://us.cnn.com/2021/11/20/opinions/kyle-rittenhouse-acquitted-rodgers/index.html
Public sentiment after an episode that is viewed as unfair -- and there are plenty of people who are incensed that Rittenhouse went free because of a self-defense claim when he placed himself in the situation in the first place -- can spark change. For example, in Georgia, after the shooting of Ahmaud Arbery, the legislature repealed the citizen's arrest law that Arbery's alleged killer and his co-defendants are relying on for their defense (although the defendants in the Arbery killing are still able to assert it).

The Conversion Psak: Some Comments and One Observation
https://cross-currents.com/2008/05/16/the-conversion-psak-some-comments-and-one-observation/
If and when the dust settles, one consequence will remain. The status of every convert over the last decades is potentially in jeopardy. No one can change this – not after the passing of Rav Moshe zt”l and Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt”l, when we lost the last figures whose piskei halacha would be accepted by all parts of the Torah world. Today, what one authority says will be rejected by another. This is what makes gerus different from a psak in hilchos muktzah or giving a hechsher on a restaurant. If someone disagrees with the muktzah psak or finds the resturant’s standards wanting, he doesn’t have to move the object or patronize the eatery. If the decision is objectionable, the consequences are mostly local and circumscribed. Gerus is different. Its effects are felt for all time, and in a plethora of applications. It doesn’t matter if objections are valid or not. If there is room to question a gerus, it will be questioned, and there is no objective way to quiet the questioners. Some – many – people will treat the conversion with suspicion.
The only way to safeguard against this is to operate conversion courts according to standards acceptable to all. Many will strain against this. It is not fair, they say, to limit the discretion of the rav who follows some different standard. Perhaps. But it is less fair and exceedingly cruel to imply to a conversion candidate that his/her gerus is in order, knowing that many people will question it. It is foolish and naïve to think that a court employing the standard of some daas yachid will somehow “get away with it” unnoticed.

The Censure of Paul Gosar Matters
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/11/paul-gosar-censure-aoc-anime.html
Gosar faced no immediate punishment for that, nor for speaking at the white nationalist conference in February. In April, he was linked with an effort to start an America First Caucus in the House that, according to a draft memo, sought to defend “a common respect for uniquely Anglo-Saxon political traditions” and, among other things, call for an infrastructure that “befits the progeny of European architecture.” While his colleague in that since-abandoned effort to start the caucus, Greene, had already been punished by a House vote to strip her of her committee assignments for her history of conspiracy theories and threatening statements, Gosar just kept sliding. He maintained his standing on the Natural Resources Committee, a valuable resume item for any member from Arizona.
Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu removed all of Chaim Walder's books from his home

Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, Chief Rabbi of the northern city of Tzfat and member of the Chief Rabbinate Council, on Wednesday said that he had removed all of Chaim Walder's books from his home - and called on others to do the same.
Walder, a haredi author and publicist, was recently accused of raping several women when they were teens. In response, a Brooklyn bookstore removed his books from their shelves and Israeli haredi media outlets suspended him. On Thursday morning it was announced that Walder has decided to take a break from public duties.
When asked many times what those who had purchased Walder's books should do with them. Rabbi Eliyahu said that there is no doubt of "a very heavy cloud of suspicion of rape."

In its announcement, the Shin Bet said that while the suspect posed a potential danger to national security, he "was not exposed to classified material and subsequently none was passed on from him to the elements with whom he made contact".
Defense Minister's cleaner charged with spying for Iran
https://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/317166
A cleaner who worked in the home of Defense Minister Benny Gantz has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to spy for Iran.
In the course of his interrogation, it emerged that the cleaner, one Omri Goren, used social media networks to reach out to an official associated with the Iranian regime, offering to assist him in various ways and explaining that he was able to do so due to his access to Defense Minister Gantz. Among the suggestions Goren made to his Iranian contact was that he could be provided with malware that he would introduce into Gantz’s personal computer.
“This plan was thwarted due to the swift arrest of Goren which prevented him from actualizing his plans,” the Shabak said in a statement. “During Goren’s interrogation, it also emerged that in order to prove his ability to do what he suggested and his serious intent, he photographed various items in various locations in the home of the Minister, which he sent to the aforementioned agent, including photographs of the Minister’s computers.”

No, the mRNA Vaccines Do Not Contain Graphene Oxide
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/graphene-oxide-mrna-vaccines/
On July 28, 2021, internet personality Stew Peters landed what he described as an “exclusive” scoop: a video interview with what he billed as Pfizer insider Karen Kingston who, Peters claimed, produced “indisputable documentation” that proves mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) contain a “poison” known as graphene oxide.
The video went viral, despite the fact that Kingston produced no such documentation, and despite the reality that her tenure at Pfizer, according to her LinkedIn profile, involved marketing cardiovascular therapies to healthcare providers in Manhattan from 1996 to 1998 — well over a decade before pharmaceutical companies had any interest in mRNA vaccines.
Fact Check-No evidence graphene oxide is present in available COVID-19 vaccines via lipid nanoparticles
https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-graphene-lipidvaccines-idUSL1N2PI2XH
Allegations that the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States (Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna) are toxic because they contain graphene oxide on their lipid nanoparticles (which help transport the mRNA through the body) are baseless.
The claims stem from a July 28 talk show ( archive.ph/eTKvT ) where a woman in the video, introduced as Karen Kingston, points to documentation on a lipid particle maker’s website which allegedly shows that graphene oxide is present in their products.
Pfizer and Moderna told Reuters, however, that graphene oxide is not among their vaccines’ ingredients.
Fact-checking Judy Mikovits, the controversial virologist attacking Anthony Fauci in a viral conspiracy video
Mikovits has not published anything in the scientific literature since 2012. But she soon began to promote the XMRV hypothesis again, and attack the Lipkin study that she agreed had put the issue to rest. She has weighed in on the autism debate with controversial theories about causes and treatments. Her discredited work and her legal travails have made her a martyr in the eyes of some.
GOP votes against Gosar censure, but frustration builds against controversial congressman: 'It's all silly'
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/gosar-republicans-censure-controversial
He’s not your mainstream Republican, a lot of people think he’s kooky," a different House GOP aide told Fox News. "He’s the type of Republican that’s far more a liability to the conference than an asset… There’s not much seriousness in his work.
"We can’t just be kicking people off committees… it’s a slippery slope," the GOP aide also said. "No one’s defending — most of the conference is not defending what he did."
A former aide to Gosar, meanwhile, said Gosar is "a smart person" and "a good person" who "just made some bad decisions."
Gosar
is "not a whackado," the former aide told Fox News. "But he represents a
very far-right district" and "has made the strategic decision to try to
replicate Donald Trump's bombastic style" because it's "what the people
want."
"But attempting to replicate Donald Trump is going to get you in trouble," the former aide added.
How a Vaguely Worded Wisconsin Law Could Let Rittenhouse Walk

If Kyle Rittenhouse is acquitted, it’s going to shock a lot of people. But if you’ve been following the case closely, it will be less of a surprise. This trial — and particularly the judge’s instruction to the jury on the concept of “provocation” — has highlighted a key flaw in the way legislatures have written their laws to describe when a person may kill lawfully in self-defense.
In an era in which more and more Americans are carrying guns and invoking their right to self-defense, these flawed laws are going to continue to lead to controversial verdicts. But lawmakers have the ability to clarify them. Here’s how.
Congressman Threatening Violence With Attack on Titan Sees Actual Consequences

In the debate leading up to the censure vote, the Republicans mostly argued that the United States faced more pressing issues than the contents of an anime video. Noted weeb Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona attempted to explain why Gosar’s controversial video was not a death threat by invoking his deep-seated familiarity with Japanese culture and anime:
I’ve lived in Japan for several years. I speak Japanese. I read and
write Japanese. This is an anime, Shingeki no Kyojin. Highly popular,
stylized, intended to demonstrate the alienation that people feel,
particularly young people feel, in their cultures. Does anime have
violence? Yes. It’s highly stylized violence. It is not meant to induce
people to violence.
